There is a “free offer” option in the classifieds but I don’t know how often it’s used. Personally, I love the concept of freecycle and I would totally participate!

There are tons of brides who either have stuff to get rid of or need things that they can’t really afford (check out the thread about helping SoontobeMrs.A). I think something like this would really take off.

I agree- I think this is a great idea! It would be great for brides on a budget and it would help to reduce waste! I’m in!

If you wanted to set up an independent swapshop for brides, that would be an awesome resource, although I would recommend contacting our legal team before attaching the name Weddingbee to it.

Also, I want to reiterate what CaitMarae mentioned – there is a Free Offer section of the classifieds. Anyone can use the classifieds (we do not allow buying/selling/donating on the boards), and it’s entirely at the discretion of the seller (or in this case, donator) who would receive their goods/products.

I am all for it. On a local level it is a great idea. I think the one downside here, is we are all over the country, and the world for that matter. And the cost of shipping should not be have to be incurred by the sendee. I think as long as there is an agreement beforehand regarding paying for the cost of shipping, it’s all good.  I’ve used freecycle many times, to give away and receive items and I am behind the idea 100%.

The free section of the classifieds is a mess of business generators and not truly free items or ideas. I am not a fan of free cycle either, again a jumbled mess. Is there a way to set something up maybe through the facebook site. I think the key is organization and keeping things up to date (another issue with the WB classifieds). I have tried to give things away through CL and I started getting ridiculous amounts of spam. Maybe one of our computer savvy Bees has a solution.

There is a swapbot set up for the WB note card swap, what about using the same site for this type of thing? I really don’t know all the details about it, but it seems like you’ll only be able to see the address of the person(s) you are swapping note cards with, and then you can rate the cards or make a note if you do not receive the cards, etc. So you can ‘rate’ someone (i think ebay has this too, no?) if they take too long to send, something is in poor condition, what have you. Just an idea πŸ™‚
