spoilerssweetie: I live in SWFL and I can honestly say that I do not go outside more than I absolutely have to in August. Miserable does not even begin to describe what it feels like. The heat and humidity is absolutely brutal. Not to mention–buttcrack sweat. Girl, you will be sweating in crevices you didn’t even know you had.
As another aside, Darling Husband and I just went to see Florence + the Machine two weeks ago in Orlando. We stayed overnight and decided to hit Downtown Disney (now called “Disney Springs”) before leaving…I think we lasted a half hour before we had to turn around and go home. We were drenched in sweat. Further, I went to WDW in May a couple of years ago after I graduated college and it was just hot as hell. And that was May. August is roughly 10x more miserable.
Here’s the thing–yes, most rides are air conditioned, yes most places to eat will have AC as well. But for a large majority of the time you will be outside walking around or, worst, waiting in lines for 30+ minutes in the heat.
If you read this and thought “Hey, what’s a little buttcrack sweat?” then another thing to consider is the crowds. While FL schools (elementaries, middle and high schools) go back early August, many other schools do not and so there are usually more people in WDW during the summer than other times of the year. Hot and crowded? No thanks, I’ll pass.
Can you go late September/early October instead?
