marymary123:  I love the idea of non-traditional guest books.  We did a wooden monogram at ours and we planned to display it in our home after the wedding.  The thing is, after we were all unpacked at the new house – I can’t find a spot I want it or like it in so it’s in it’s box under our guest bed…

So my suggestion is just to make sure you have a place for it!  Other than that, I like it!

I love the idea of a globe guest book, but unless your guests are really coming in from all over the world, I would want to convey the idea that people can sign wherever, not just where they’re from. Otherwise, if you’re like most people, you’ll have most of the signatures crammed into a very small space!

Seems random and weird to me if most people are from the US and you’re not big on travel.  We’re huge on travel, we have a globe with push pins of where we’ve gone, but I still wouldn’t use it as a guest book.

marymary123: I think it looks very cool and I like the idea of it, but I would find it weird if 1. “travel” or something wasn’t the theme of the wedding (I don’t like wedding “themes” anyway), 2. the couple weren’t big travelers themselves (we all like the “idea” of traveling, but some people really have been everywhere) or 3. the guests were coming from all over the world. Since your wedding doesn’t fall into one of those categories I would just find it strange/out of place…

That said, don’t worry about what I or your guests might think or find “weird”. If you really love it, do it.

HaHa! I have this on my Wedding board! I love this idea, because it is not a typical guest book. But I was thinking of painting the globe just a solid color since the majority of our guests are from the states. I have a room that I want to do in a travel/map theme so it would go in there after the wedding.

We considered this idea but ended up going with a a map of the world to frame! We thought the actual globe might be hard to sign and globes are expensive! But I think it’s a great idea!
