So my DH is 30 soon. My parents have already given him and us the amazing gift that is Gal the kitten. Nothing I do is going to beat that this year. But has anyone got any sweet//crafty or just imaginative ideas for his birthday from me?? I’m stumped. And you guys are always so clever and interesting when it comes to this stuff. Anything is great.
By the way, he is a giant nerd into comic books, superheroo shows (flash, daredevil, marvel anything) and a big gamer. He is artsy and draws but he already has sketch books and pencils. Hmmm, he is athletic but he buys all his gym stuff himself and has a little gym (punch bag, pads etc) set up in our yard. Ugh, so hard

Since he is into comics, could you make him a comic book of your story? I think there are templates you could download online to use and maybe tools in a photo program to turn pics of you have into a comic book style. Even if you use regular pictures in a comic book format, I think it would be cute. It will take some time but it could potentially be free and really cool at the same time.

Maybe just a nice card, a six pack of his favorite beer, & his favorite home cooked meal or something?

I really like that idea actually! I’m a horrible drawer but I suppose that could be cute. He often thinks my drawings are hilarious.
It could be the highlights of us so far or something. With stick men! 😀

Likely a dumb idea but do you have any artist friends? If so, perhaps they can somehow help you create a “comic book” of your hubby as a superhero and give him a crime fighting adventure story?

ohmygod I love that. I sadly only have one artist friend and her medium is knitting. I did ask her to knit me a superhero for christmas but she is so busy I doubt it will be ready til xmas 2016! I think I might use that though. As my comic book that i make myself. . .if its truly hilaious I will post it haha

It sounds silly but once I was in a similar (broke) situation, and I made my DH some vouchers, each promising him a different romantic thing, like 1 back rub, 1 home baked cake of his choice, 1 movie of his choice…you get the idea! But you can make it specific to your relationship, and his hobbies and favourite things. You could draw cute pictures on them.

You could do loot crate? I think it’s like twenty dollars a month or something close and you can do it for however long you want. It’s got like collectable things and shirts and stuff. I know that my fi, who is a gamer really like it. 🙂 each month is a new theme. This month was a back to the future theme.

thats an amazing idea! I’ve seen that actually in Rules of Engagement once and I thought it was cute! He would really like that! Ooh, I knew this was the place for ideas!
he REALLY wants that and he’s been wanting it for a while but we keep putting it off. Unexpected bills keep, oh I don’t know, finding us.

I usually give my husband a card in the morning and then do a few things to make his day special – such as a combination of making dinner for him while I send him out on a 4hr bike ride (yes, that’s his favorite thing to do), going on a bike ride/run with him, baking him a cake or giving him the car to take to work (he usually buses and I drive.) These little special gestures seem to mean more to him than any gift.

We always do smaller gifts that are things we want/need for the house or wahtever. For example this year I was gifted an aluminum bucket, lily bulbs and wildflower seeds. Birthdays do not have to be over the top. I don’t even remember what i got him, come to think of it. I think M&Ms were involved. how about sugar cookies cut/decorated for his favorite comic characters/symbols? there are lots of samples online. Looks like you got a good idea above anyway.

I made my husband a “beer cake.”
It was a cake shaped tower of his favorite canned beer.
Wrapped with a ribbon and he loved it!

You could get some inexpensive frames at ikea and create a gallery wall in your house using his artwork.

Word collage! For this you’ll need
A picture frame (any size)
Construction paper (optional to make it look pretty)
Your brain ( or a dictionary)
Now think of words that describes your relationship. Or memories that the two of you share. Write each out perhaps include the definition of words. Glue them randomly to your page. This can also make great Wall art – hence the frame. Here’s the closest pic I could find so use your imagination
