- Wedding: July 2019 - San Antonio, TX
3 weeks ago, I was shopping with my daughter at the mall and ran into my boyfriend and my son. They were walking into a jewelry store when I saw them. My boyfriend told me later that night that yes, he had been looking at rings. But I thought he was in the early looking phase at most.
On Friday, I sent him a text when I left work to let him know that I was going to pick up my daughter and then we would be home. He called me back immediately and asked if I was hungry. I told him that I wasn’t starving but I could eat and I knew the kids would be hungry. He suggested that he would get my son and then meet us over at the restaurant where we first met and had our first date. I thought it was a little weird because we haven’t been in the 3 years since that night. It is a bit of an out of the way location but the food is great so I said that was fine.
We got there and ate dinner and I admit I was feeling a little disappointed, A part of me had kind of hoped he had suggested this restaurant because it was where we met. A little part of me hoped he would propose here. We walked out the door and he pulled me over to the side and said that this was where we first met and now we had come full circle. And then he got down on one knee and asked if I would marry him. My daughter had pulled her phone out and recorded the whole thing. While he was asking me, the waitress came out to bring the leftovers I meant to take with me so that was kind of funny.
We started talking dates and it looks like we are going to have a small wedding this summer. Neither one of us wants a long engagement, we want to start our lives together ASAP. Honestly, I would be happy with eloping but his family wants to be a part of everything and it would be nice to have my kids there too.
