- Wedding: June 2011
We just got back from our destination beach wedding in Florida and I figured I would do a brief recap while I wait on our pro photos. We had 13 family members join us for 4 days in Florida and I think everyone really enjoyed relaxing and having some beach time! We had perfect weather until the wedding day, which was overcast and VERY windy but luckily no rain!! The wedding day itself was pretty hectic, we ran behind all day and were pretty rushed with our first look and pictures before the ceremony but had plenty of time after the ceremony to take a ton of pictures. If I could go back I would have definitely given myself more time to get ready and relax a little before the photographer arrived! By the time we made it down to the beach it was time for the ceremony to start so I wish I would have had a few minutes to relax before I had to walk down the aisle! Since it was so windy on the beach it was hard to hear the music and the officiant during the ceremony and my hair was blowing everywhere!
I used Publix for our wedding cake and it was delicious!! We had them do a 2 tier cake and decorated it with our ribbon and a fresh rose. I was pretty nervous about ordering from Publix but I was very happy with the way it turned out!! I used fifty flowers for my fresh rose petals since they were much cheaper than the florist where I ordered my bouquet. I was so nervous that they wouldn’t arrive on time because of the Memorial Day holiday but they came right on time! I ordered a blend of pink rose petals and there were a few yellow ones mixed in and quite a few light purple but overall I was happy with the petals. I ordered 6,000 petals and I do wish I would have gone with 12,000. 6,000 looks like a lot when it is in the bags but didn’t look like much on the ground. We had dinner at a local restaurant afterward and everything there was perfect!
Overall everything went as planned! Yes, there were a few hectic and stressful moments throughout the day and I was so worried that it was going to rain but the weather held out and there were no major disasters. It wasn’t the ideal sunny day I had pictured but it wasn’t raining so I was thankful! Most importantly, I married my best friend!!! I will post pro pictures as soon as I get them!
