It’s been quite a while since I’ve been on here, and there have been lots of changes! I moved to live with my SO about 7 months ago, and we just closed on our first house today! It is in my name, but SO will split the payments with me. We certainly had not planned on buying a home so soon, but I fell in love with a 1950’s fixer-upper a few houses down from a lake. It needs a lot of cosmetic work and it will be a long time before we are able to change everything we want to change, but I’m excited to improve my DIY skills. Please feel free to post photos of your own fixer-uppers… I love before and after photos! Below is a photo of our new home 🙂

Congrats on your new home! I also bought a fixer upper for the location. It’s live in condition, but will be years before it’s where we want it to be. It is where most of our money is going. Some days I want to pull my hair out, but it’s worth it. Our house was built in 1850(just for perspective, my house was around when Wyatt Earp was fighting the Okay Corral). We are trying to stick with a historical feel for it. Sorry I don’t have pics 🙁

Our 1910 Victorian/Federal style home. Not the best picture.

Your house looks amazing! I clor the color and the flowers in front!
My DH and I bought a 1920’s bungalow duplex almost two years ago. So far we have redone the front flower bed, made a veggie garden on the side, am working on the back yard, and am almost done with a kitchen redo, along with several other smaller projects. It’s a great feeling once you see it come together. Sadly, I can’t find a pic of it on my computer.

Following because I am obsessed with fixer uppers!

Our house was built in 1855 and hasn’t really been updated ever with the exception of adding electricty and plumbing, so you could surely call it a “fixer upper”…

We bought a fixer-upper too! It’s A LOT of work, but it will be totally worth it!
Here’s the outside ‘before’, should have an ‘after’ this fall!
Bathroom after, this was it almost done. DH gutted and redid it. 🙂
Living room before, + my handsome DH 🙂
Living room almost done.
We did a lot of work right away, we tore up all of the floors and laid hardwood throughout. We re-did the bathroom and I painted ALL of the ceilings and the whole house. I don’t even want to look at paint anymore lol.
We still have the kitchen to redo, it’s still rocking the 80’s look, but I gave it a bit of a facelift. I can’t wait until that project!
Sorry for posting a million pictures :p Good luck with your house renos!

We we are in escrow at the moment… The whole house needs cleaning and repainting… The tile needs to be changed or painted in both bathrooms… The hardwood is in poor shape but it may not be in the budget because the house needs new siding, and a new roof (soon)… Plus all the mechanical systems are at the end of their life cycle so we will have a home warranty to cover those if/when they go….
