@the_future_mrs:  Haha I also was swayed by DeathbyDesign’s gorgeous solitaire, I’m sure there are enough fans of that thing to start a club here lol.

Do you have any other photos of your old ring?

Good for you! I can tell by your attitude and your overall post that the solitaire is MUCH better suited to you and I think you’ll be quite happy with it 😀

I haven’t had to replace my ring (but I waited over 6 weeks for it to come in). But, I was engaged and married before. I LOVE my engagement ring. LOVE it. I still periodically find myself looking at it and thinking how pretty it is. I didn’t love my last engagement ring – sure, it was pretty I guess and I liked it. However, I didn’t pick out my band, and it also started to stand for something I didn’t like. I love my partner and I love our relattionship, so that likely has something to do w/ it. Despite havign a diamond almost the same size, this setting lets the stone really sparkle.

Anyway, it sounds like you made a good choice! Hopefully your new ring will be in soon and both you and your partner will love it. Post pictures, please!

It sounds like it really suits you! I would never want to spend so much on something and have that many issues. Geez, I didn’t know sizes were so different in Canada and Europe Tongue Out. Can’t wait to see pics of your new ring!

@the_future_mrs congrats on getting exactly what you wanted!! The ring you chose is gorgeous!! We are definitely on the same page as far as upgrading goes!! I just couldn’t justify spending all that money on a ring right now when we are saving for a house and children down the line. I told him the same thing–that maybe for our 5 or 10yr anniversary we can upgrade from my 1.05ct moissy to a 1ct diamond.

I’m glad this worked out! It sounds like the original ring just wasn’t meant to be.

I’ve got a weird question. How come he got the original one from the UK?  Is it hard to find jewelry in Canada?

I can’t imagine having to ship my engagement ring overseas to have it re-sized (or to have anything done, really–too scary).  We got my ring at a local Jared, and the couple of times I’ve had re-sizing done, I just dropped it off and came back a couple of hours or the next day later.

@strawbabies:  LOL no it is not hard to find jewelery in Canada. We are a big and populated country with many jewelers, from chain stores to independents. Ha ha, I just found that funny but I am not laughing at you.

There are some GREAT local independent custom jewelers around here in my city (and chains I would not personally go to), who I go to for repair or maintenance and other items, but I still got my own rings from the US as the jeweler I wanted to handmake them lives in Florida. I wanted something very specific and preferred to go with the original maker than try and have someone recreate it.
