I am SO excited to share this with the Bees!! On Saturday my Fiance and I worked with a local jewelry artist to design and then actually MAKE our wedding bands!! The experience was wonderful, starting the day off meeting the artists at the studio and being offered a cup of coffee and some homemade pastries. We then got into the details of ring making, and we both went through the whole process with the artist making practice rings. We hit a snag when the artist realized she ordered the wrong color metal (FI wanted white gold and she ordered yellow). So she let him make some additional rings out of silver and copper while we worked on mine – we’ll go back in a month or so to make his ring.
I made a braided band with yellow, white and rose gold. The process was intense and long (we were at the studio for 4.5 hours!), but it was so much fun and the fact that we MADE our own wedding bands is such a neat story! When we go back we’ll make FI’s ring and we’ll add a little heart onto the back of my ring (made out of the same white gold that his ring is cast from). Check out these photos and the final product!!
If anyone in the Boston area is interested in doing this, please let me know and I can give you the details for this artist and the studio!!

Um, awesome! I tried searching for something like this local to us, but couldn’t find anything. My band has been passed down through the family, so the sentimentalist in me wants to make FI’s band so it has as much meaning as mine does… so glad you guys got to do this!

@thenextmrsi: That’s awesome! I am taking a jewelry making and metal smithing class this fall so I was thinking of making BF’s wedding band. (we’ll be engaged by then.) It’s so special to make your own rings!
