- Wedding: June 2012
So even though we planned a small wedding for later this year, we wanted to do this f0r us. Individually, we liked the idea of an intimate ceremony and let me tell you it was PERFECT!. No stress, no one to put their stress on us and so we simply winged it and still ended up with a wonderful evening.
Months ago I posted about having a small wedding without my massive family of siblings and some noted that including the siblings was the way to go, but I have wonderful brothers and sisters who understood our vision was for small and intimate and in no way would that happen if I invited my 9 brothers and sisters and their families. So with their blessing and the blessings of our parents we planned a small wedding for November. However, since my now hubby was visiting Jamaica, we decided to go on a vacation and then simply decided to tie the knot.
We stayed at Villa Marjai, a small bed and breakfast and trust me that the lady got us free tropical flowers like I wanted, decorated her place free of cost, she pulled her her best crystal, she ordered us a super reasonable small cake ($25 USD) which was only ready 1 hour before the wedding and then she had her SO pick it up free of cost for us. This wonderful lady and her SO took our pictures, became our witnesses and found us the most hilarious pastor.
I wish some brides who are stressing about their wedding day could feel the love and peace we had on our special day. And for our wedding dinner, we made reservations at Great Huts in Portland and we got free dessert and salad and they made us feel special. We also did rafting the day after and got an extra special rafting trip as the raft captain wanted to honour our first day together as man and wife.
Whatever type of wedding you choose- small or large, I hope the brides on the Bee remember that is all about the bride and the groom, allow noone or nothing else to spoil your special day.
Here are some photos from our special day taken by the SO of our hostess

Our coconut tree (I always joked that I would get married under a coconut tree lol)
Our ceremony- my dress is the long satin dress that in an earlier post that I noted I had bought for $40 from The Limited wedding collection and then had it cut. After my mom cut it, she inadvertently cut a hole in the dress and I resorted to making flowery petals over the dress to hide the hole.
Our table was well put together by Jenny, our Bed and Breakfast hostess.
