My husband (big cheesy smile when I say that!) and I have been together for 3 years and engaged since May 1st of this year. We were planning to get married sometime next year but something recently changed our minds… About 3 months ago the doctors discovered a mass in his chest and neck. After months of tests they no longer think it is cancer, like they originally thought, but it still has to come out since it is pressing on his heart and lungs. He will undergo major chest and neck surgery tomorrow. Getting a diagnosis like this makes people think a little differently as we had originally wanted a small wedding (20-30) with a big reception but had recently decided we just want to be married. Period. We invited our close family over and our kids actually kept the secret which is good because family thought they were just coming for a family dinner before my husband has his surgery since he will be out of commission for a while. It was a surprise to them when they saw our preacher walk in! That’s when we announced, “Welcome to our wedding!” While people finished eating I changed into a white shirt and we got hitched in the living room with the people we love most surrounding us. We also did our sand ceremony that the kids have been looking forward too. The preachers wife snapped some good pics but I don’t have them yet so I will share some pics taken by my family.
Needless to say, I have some close girl friends that are excited about helping to plan a reception since they didn’t get to help with the wedding lol

I hope everything goes well with your husband’s surgery tomorrow! My mum has major surgery tomorrow too (hip replacement, the first of two she’ll need) so I’ll be praying to the “health official” in all religions’ heaven – I’ll make sure to include your husband too!
