Hey Bees! So I haven’t been on the site in a couple months:( But I just wanted to post an update, WE ELOPED!! For all the Bee’s out there that are thinking about an elopement…
JUST DO IT!
For us, All the wedding planning quickly became overwhelming, frustrating, and depressingly expensive. $$$$. We didn’t have parents paying for any thing, and it just seemed like a lot of money and pressure for a day that was suppose to be about love. All we really wanted was to be married, so we just did it! We called our mothers first and of course and they were both totally supportive.
We are sending out announcements, and at the request of our mothers having a close friends/family reception in Florida (where our family is from) this September.
From our announcement:
In the Blue Ridge Mountains there is a quaint cabin community called Cherry Log. Cherry Log has a beautiful pavilion and hand built arbor surrounded by a lake, streams and multiple hand built bridges. The entire area is the epitome of rustic charm. We fell in love with the beautiful scenery and thought it would make the perfect backdrop for our wedding photos.
We had the ceremony in the tiny Cherry Lake Chapel. It was freezing cold, but we were so excited we hardly noticed. Our entire day was simple and completely relaxed. Ian and I both commented that we thought we would be more nervous, but somehow we both felt at ease. We wrote our own vows, and were married by a local minister. Afterward we drove to our favorite restaurant and had a delicious dinner as husband and wife. The waiter and staff were all so wonderful and brought us food, wine, dessert, and even a champagne toast on the house. We felt like a couple of celebrities. Haha. What an amazing day it was.
Some pics from our day. We are not photogenic people but we love how they turned out and anyone in the Atlanta area I highly recommend Brittany Dobbs with Dare To Be Different Photography. She was awesome!
