I am so excited! My work situation is a little different, as two people can not take a vacation at the same time due to staffing issues.. And I’m the newest, so I got to choose vacations last, anyway!!
Originally we wanted a fall wedding, but September through December was taken by people with more senority then me. So we decided on winter! Long story short I got the vacation I wanted, and Fiance and I set a date! January 4th, 2014! A little over a year away. I am so excited!
I know I shouldn’t be planning with 400+ days to go.. But I can’t help it!
Any other 2014 brides starting to look at venues and such?

Congratulations! I don’t think it’s at all too early to start planning 🙂

You’re getting married 2 weeks before me! Although I’m having a summer wedding. On the beach in New Zealand. I’m also starting to get organized, my excuse is that I am getting married in a different country but really I’m just excited plus it’s fun!

Eeek! Your wedding date is the same exact one we picked tonight. Only we have chosen not to tell a soul until I have the ring. We go look for the center stone this weekend!
January 4, 2014 sounded great to us. 😀 We picked it because:
– No major holidays happen in January except the 1st
– No bog family events like birthdays this month
– I LOVE the winter but wasn’t fond of a Christmas wedding
– I liked the sound of it and so did he
– We felt January is the neglected month and we wanted to put something special there (LOL. This was seriously a reason!)
I have been looking at some ideas but we really haven’t decided past the date…like where or how.
Best to you!!

Haha well I guess January 4th, 2014 has a certain ring to it because that’s the date my fiance and I have picked too.
@lichtetheway honestly we picked January 4th for alot of the same reasons as you.
Love the idea of winter wedding but I really didn’t want it to be grouped in with the Chrsitams holidays.
@KimberBee definitely not too early to start planning. Yes it’s a long way off but if things just fall into place early go with it. My fiance is in the military so we live in a different province (Manitoba) then our parents and will be getting married back home (Ontario). I went home for a visit and went dress shopping for fun with my mom, mother in law to be and grandmother and happen to find THE dress. So we bought it! My mother and aunt went to a bridal show and found a great phtographer for an amazing deal and the perfect venue. We FaceTimed with my mom and the venue and now the venue is booked. So is the photographer. I have challenging in-laws to be, so I’m really happy we have all this time.
Plus it really is ALOT of fun to have the time to look at different ideas and be able to flip flop on things like decor, hairstyles and make up. Also with having extra time I can do more DIY aspects for the wedding.
Congrats to all and I’m sure we’ll all have beautiful January weddings
