So we’ve been engaged for like 2 years now and we’ve FINALLY set the date. 15th April 2017. That’s my wedding date! OMG!
So what now? I feel like it’s so far away but so close at the same time, does that make sense?
I’m still waiting for the venue & registrar to say they’ve got the deposits but I think we’re as good as booked 🙂
I’m excited and I’m nervous. Probably because I’ve just paid a lot on deposits haha.
How did you feel when you finally set the date & what did you do next?

Yay! Celebrate, obviously 🙂
You’re already sorting the Registrar, which is fab. Get booked in to give notice ASAP if you’re a UK Bee 🙂
Then start looking at:
– Photography/Videography (this books up fast!)
– BM/Groomsmen outfits
– Suit for OH
– Save the Dates (if you’re bothering. I wouldn’t as it’s only 6 months)
Oh, there’s probably a million more things! Does your venue do a Wedding Fayre? Ours did and it was SO HELPFUL. We got loads booked there 🙂

Congrats! I was engaged for 2 years when I set a date also so I remember how surreal it was. I would say to book the photographer next. That, combined with the venue costs, will really help you get an idea of the overall budget. Depending on the type of dress then I would say to do that soon since many take 6-8 months. If you’re sending save the dates, then that would need to happen within the next month or so.

I always think its best to start with a budget. April is not far away so you should definitely start looking at dresses immediately. Many dresses can take 6 months to be made and then you need time for alterations. Also start compiling your guest list, researching vendors and consider invitations you will use.

So I’m literally sat here in my full practised wedding hair & makeup. Yeah, I clearly have my priorities straight lol
In all seriousness though I’ve been planning for like a year. I have my photographer, flowers, guest list, I’m a graphic designer so I’m making my own invites.
We’re on a super tight budget so I’m getting a dress off the rack and will have it fitted by my local seamstress.
Only thing I haven’t done is looked at entertainment. Bands are totally out of the budget. Guest list is 45 – 50 people so I’m not sure if a DJ would be a bit much? The last few wedding I went to the DJ was a bit OTT :/

Sounds like you have everything under control.
Have you locked down your venue(s)? It’s important that they are in sync with the wedding date you have chosen.
