I’m so excited right now bees! My fiance and I booked a venue today and have a date! We are getting married at Oheka Castle on Long Island in 2020. It’s my absolute dream venue! I went not expecting to like it at all, but we fell in love with the building and the grounds. We felt like we were walking around in a fairytale, and now can’t picture having our day anywhere else. We saw 7 venues total during our hunt – this was the 6th. I think this is probably on the higher side, but it was well worth it until we found the one!
I want to hear about your venue hunt! How did you know when you found “the one?” Did you and your fiance agree on it at first? Was the venue you picked ultimately a surprise to both of you, or did you have it picked out in advance?

Yay!! That’s so exciting!!
I still remember touring our venue, we fell in love with it right away. It was the first venue we looked at and when we got in the car we both just like yup, that’s the one!

Congratulations, how exciting!
We only looked at 2 venues. One was an 1.5 hours away and $4500 to hire (we are self-catering). The other was 20 minutes away and $200 to hire. Both were beautiful, so our choice was pretty obvious to us! I’m a pretty frugal bride, so I’m really keeping things as casual as possible whilst still having a beautiful wedding. Oh, plus the second location had about 10 pods of dolphins erupt out of the water when we were overlooking it, which was just beautiful! That definitely won my partner over.

Congratulations!! That is soooo exciting! We looked at 4 venues in one day and the one we picked was the second one! Once we went in, it was just like “yup!”. It actually wasn’t the one I was expecting to pick. I really liked a different one online, but once we saw it in person, it just didn’t have as much personality! The one we chose was a little more expensive, but they already had a ton of decorations, so we saved money there, so it will all work out!

I had been to our venue a few times previously for other non-wedding events. By the time my fiance proposed, I was already pretty much set on it. So it was just a matter of bringing my fiance and my parents to take the tour and confirm that they were onboard as well. It’s really the only venue that ticks all the boxes for us.

Congratulations! so exciting once you get the venue! I am also getting married in 2020 and just booked the venue last week!
We are getting married in Hopetoun House near Edinburgh, Scotland. It was the second venue we viewed and we had 3 other viewings but we both fell in love instantly with it and cancelled the others!

- Wedding: October 2019 - Chateau Lake Louise
We bounced around a lot before we settled on our final plans. I knew I wanted a destination wedding, but we went from a ski resort town just a few hours from home, to a beach wedding in Mexico, all the way to Lake Louise in Canada – where we finally felt sure.
I’ve been vaguely obsessed with Banff ever since I was 9 years old and saw a PBS special about the area. I took a 9 day road trip there by myself just before I met FH. Someone on the Bee posted their photos from a Moraine Lake elopement and it was like being struck by lightning.
I knew as soon as we agreed on Banff, that I HAD to have the wedding at the Chateau Lake Louise. It is the most magical setting I can imagine, and luckily, we were able to reserve a private event room with a direct view of Victoria Glacier for our super intimate celebration.
I feel like when you know, it’s almost like you hear some bell ring in your heart. While I was excited about some of the other ideas I had, this was the first time it felt absolutely right.
Congrats on finding your space!!

I have had a restuarant in mind since we ate there this past May. We visited this past weekend and we are so excited about it! We are going to review the contract tonight & probably put down our deposit. Exciting and expensive!
We only looked at one place and honestly, I can’t imagine looking anywhere else. We love this place, we know the food is good, and it’s reasonabily priced. Besides if something happens between now & then, we can cancel and get our money back. So nice to have a date! (so soon!)

- Wedding: September 2019 - Saint Louis, MO
I looked online for a lot of venues. At first I found some venues that I liked but did not LOVE. Then we found one venue that I loved and he liked. We toured it and we both fell in love with the venue. A few days later we paid the deposit on the venue due to it being so hot in our town. It’s so exciting when you find your venue it makes it all so real!
