Hi bees! I am too excited and need to tell someone since I don’t want to show my family too many photos until the actual engagement, but my boyfriend and I have finally picked out our diamond! I apologize if some of the photos are blurry, I haven’t decided on a setting yet so the green wax was just a place holder to see finger coverage.
We are so excited and this forum has been awesome for advice and help, now onto picking my setting! Show me rings you are excited for whether they are new or you are still excited about them years later!

Congratulations!!!!! What setting are you thinking? Here’s mine, I still get excited to wear it which isn’t often because you know, Covid….I don’t go anywhere 😂

How exciting!! The crown looks pretty steep, is this the 1.7ct you mentioned in your last post? It looks like it holds a lot of its weight above the girdle BUT the diamond looks bigger on your finger in this photo and I’m sure it’s stunning in person! Any ideas on the setting yet? 🙂

@newbeegirl: I noticed that as well. Crown looks very steep for a modern round brilliant. Might face up smaller than a well cut 1.7ct diamond and could have performance issues as a result of being cut too deep. Also, not sure if its dirty, but in the face up photo it appears cloudy, milky and/or included.
OP, do you have a copy of the lab report? Were you able to view the diamond in various lighting besides jewelry store lighting (which is designed to make even poorly cut and heavily included diamonds look good)? I understand how thrilling it is to shop for diamonds, especially for your engagement ring. But a 1.7ct diamond is quite a financial investment and oftentimes emotions take over (which jewelers rely on). Its not uncommon for buyers to have regrets after noticing how their diamonds perform in IRL, outside the jewelry store. A bit of research beyond the “4Cs” will go a long way in getting a diamond that out-performs most others on the market (brighter, more sparkle, crisp, eye catching, etc.). Not to be a buzzkill (there are certainly plenty of people rocking diamonds without doing much of any research that adore them with no regrets), but you are in the position now to make a more educated purchase. If you feel you’ve done enough research and are happy with your decision, then ignore my advice. Congratulations on your upcoming engagement! Best of luck to you both.

hi guys! Thank you for the information, yes this is the 1.7 I posted about before. We have been diamond searching for several months now with no real carat size/time frame in mind just knowing we wanted a triple ex RBC diamond. Our jeweler has been awesome with all of our questions and concerns as we have looked at several rounds of diamonds and we also have had our family gemologist come along just to be an unbiased eye.
While we noticed that the depth is a touch higher than we wouldve expected, not by much, our gemologist had no issues with the performance and we certianly saw nothing with the naked eye that would ruin our views on it (both in the stores lights and outside the shop in daylight). The cloudiness in the photo is 100% from my iPhone camera. I took a screenshot of a video and I wish I could post the actual video cause the sparkle and clarity really aren’t apparent in my blurry photo haha! Just got too excited to post any photos I had on hand!
Our gemologist reviewed the GIA report and really found no concerns with the diamond even with the depth being what it is, and our jeweler gave us a well worth it price. That combination really sealed the deal for us and our untrained eyes just think its beautiful to look at!
This forum has been awesome to make sure that we are checking all of our boxes. With it being such a huge purchase I really appreaciate you guys taking the time to make sure we are getting exactly what we should so thank you! I apologize about the long response!

beautiful set! sitting at home wearing them and eating that donut sounds ideal honestly! I am pretty set on a 2mm pave band, but still on the fence about a cathedral design or a simple basket

Congrats, bee!! I actually really love that puffier crown! 😍 The profile is beautiful — reminds me of an OEC. Wish mine were a bit puffier!

It is beautiful! Congratulations and I can’t wait to see how you set it! I am having my diamond reset…it’s at the jeweler now and should be ready in a couple more days! Here’s a pic of my current ering, new pink diamond rose gold band, and new rose gold diamond halo setting:
