- Wedding: July 2012 - The Gables Inn, Santa Rosa, CA
Well, we did it! The wedding was perfect (mostly). I didn’t find out about any of the issues until afterwards, and there was really only 1 thing that was a bit awkward– one of our good friends sang our first dance song, and afterwards had a “special tribute” for the groom… Now– to explain some of the back story, there is a Starwars parody song from one of the characters Boba Fett, called Fetts Vett; it’s basically a funny rap style song making fun of a few bits of starwars, it’s cute and cheesy and my brand new husband LOVES it, he thinks it’s hilarious, so it was a running joke during the planning process that he was going to bust-a-move and sing it at the wedding, or that the DJ would play it as he was walking out, or that would be the recessional song, etc. In the nature of the joke, I was whole heartedly against it, and threatened pain of dismemberment for anyone who conspired with him about it… Well, the friend who was singing the song didn’t quite understand the joke… And decided her gift to the groom would be a different starwars parody, sung to the tune of “Somebody that I used to know” by Gotye… needless to say it was a bit of a trainwreck, especailly when the music wouldn’t play and she was bickering with her husband (the DJ) about how to make it work– all while holding the live microphone of course– and then we all had to suffer through the entire thing… It was bad; hilariously bad… and fortunately the groom had the forethought to grab a beer and over enthusieastically sway along while she sang while I watched in a combination of awe and horror. 🙂
And the best part is the whole thing is on tape!!! It was bad, but we are already laughing about it. Everything else was perfect– the food came out amazing (my mom and I prepared most of it, and the BBQ was cooked on site by a friend), the weather was amazing, I really don’t think anything could have made the day any better.
We are now on our honeymoon in Kona, HI for 2 full weeks, and it too is fabulous!
I don’t have many pics yet– just the ones that guests took and have e-mailed me, this one was taken on a slant and I rotated it to straight, hence the white corners. More pictures to come!
