The most stressful part of my wedding planning is FINALLY coming together! I can officially say my wedding will be Catholic! I didn’t even realize what a huge feeling of relief this would be!
I’ve had so many issues tying to arrange the Catholic portion of everything, between one priest telling me he woulnd’t do my pre-cana unless I married in his church, to another telling me they wouldn’t sign off on my parish thingy w/o a fee, and then the $1500.00+++ that was needed to get married Catholic at the chapel we chose and then the issue of actually FINDING a priest or deacon to agree preform the ceremony, my goodness its been a nightmare!!
I won’t go into all the details but the circus has come to a close and things are actually running smoothly, yay!!! Just had to share my excitement 🙂 🙂 🙂

Congrats! It’s nice when things finally work out! 🙂
I wanted a specific priest to do our wedding. When Fiance called the deacon who coordinates all the weddings, the deacon told him since we have no full mass, we couldn’t have a priest doing the ceremony and he would marry us. I must say I was a bit bummed, b/c I really like that priest.
Last week, my Future Mother-In-Law talked to another priest at the parish, and according to him we can most certainly have a priest marry us even though we don’t have a full mass. Why would the deacon lie to us about that? Unfortunately, my favorite priest won’t be at the parish much longer. 🙁

oh that is such good news! We actually just found our priest too, although he is requiring that we attend pre-marital counseling with someone here in atlanta in the meantime. . sigh. . more money.

hooray hooray! catholic weddings are beautiful, in my opinion. We had our first meeting with our deacon last night. (FI’s uncle is actually marrying us, he is a catholic priest in tulsa) but we get to do all of our meetings and our precana class through my church. Just wait till you get your ceremony booklet! you get to choose all your readings and songs…i dont know how i will ever make it through the ceremony, Fiance and i were reading them to each other last night and i was balling.

@ktisthatbees – It’s the same for us. We have our precana meetings up here with my local priest. We have to meet with the Deacon thats actually marrying us once at least a month before the wedding but I’ll be making a trip down for other wedding planning so its not bad, plus it will be nice to actually meet him before the wedding day!
