FLEAS SUCK. After I gave my cat to my ex I thought the fleas would have gone with it, but no. After my husband moved in he got bit all the time and couldn’t sleep. It was awful. We sprayed, did at least 3 rounds of foggers, used the flea carpet stuff and just drowned a ton of them down the sink. Fleas tend to like certain people…my SD and I didn’t get bit at all…well we did, but I just had little red circles that didn’t bother me at all and went away quickly.

Just keep killing them. It takes a ton of time for them to die off. Vacuum everywhere and do foggers a lot. Your cat being on medication should help to kill them off too.

I’m so sorry you’re dealing with them! I just adopted two four week old kittens who I had to deflea and it took me like a week for two kittens because they hide EVERYWHERE (the fleas). They are the devil.

If you have carpets, sprinkle Borax onto them and work in really, really well with a broom. Wait 24 hours and then vacuum it up. Also, if you have a bagless vacuum, put a flea collar inside. I heard that might help…. But I swear by the Borax!

We had fleas from just one cat. I would clean, vacuum, and shower my cat almost every week. None of this really worked, it only kept them under control a bit. I did this thing over the summer when we were gone for four days. I sprinkled borax and used a broom to make sure it was well spread out. I made sure the AC was off and locked the empty house. When I came back, I vacuumed the borax, and ever since we haven’t seen a single flea. I hope this helps!

My Future Mother-In-Law uses baking soda and salt when her house gets fleas. she sprinkles it down, waits 2 hours, and then vacuums it. She does this every day until the fleas stop. we have 4 large dogs, and none of them have fleas.

Also, my roommate gives his dog a pill form flea medication. she has never once had a flea on her, and she spends ALOT of time outside

As a veterinary professional, I recommend getting Revolution or Advantage from your veterinarian. 1 or 2 doses per pet should get rid of the problem.

Products like Zodiac and Hartz make me shudder. There was a lot of pets that died from those products a few years ago, and we frequently treat cats at the clinic who go into toxic shock from those products. However, its usually because the owner doesn’t read the label properly and applies DOG product onto their CAT.

I would also recommend getting some Siphotrol spray for your couch/carpets/beds.

It’s something like 3/4 of your flea infestation are in your couch/carpet/beds and only 1/4 on the pet!

We have fleas too. They have just infested one of our dogs at this point. We washed all of the blankets and sheets (and then our dryer broke from overload!!!!! ahh) I put Frontline on the dogs and it seemed to have worked. It’s been a month and they are starting to reappear so I made sure I put more meds on. I was told not to bathe them before you put on the meds because the it needs to mix with the oils on the body. Wait atleast 3 days for a bath. And vaccuum everyday!

My dog had fleas but we got lucky.  She is white with short hair, and we caught them right away.  We took her on the porch and hand picked them off and squished them with a tweezer.  We threw out her blankets and dog bed (she was so sad!)  Then we put her in the bath for about 3 hours (:/ it was a hassle!) and shampooed and bathed her, with natural shampoo that had a bunch of herbs recommended for killing fleas.  It worked!  As an extra precaution we also got some frontline and put it on her, just to be safe, but man I hate chemicals.  I don’t even think that was necessary, it was just an extra ‘just in case.’  Poor thing got fleas from a hotel where we stayed!
