Hmm yeah that would probably get annoying for him. I love the way it looks written, though!

@NJmeetsBX:  that name is just asking for trouble. Kids hear their classmates’ names before they see them written so it’s likely they’ll assume the name really is “denim”.

Hmmm. Before reading your post, I read the name to rhyme with HAM…and honestly that is even worse than the jeans connotation.

Have you looked up names that are similar to that? Like Graham, Dunstan, Delbert?

    I love it!

First of all, I didn’t think of jeans when I first read it until you mentioend it in your post. Secondly, I knew how to pronounce it immediately.

I think it rocks! Totally digging it. And you will probably be seen as a visionary when some celebrity swipes up the name as a PP mentioned with Levi (another name which I love btw). 😛

@NJmeetsBX:  I plan on having another chil, and if a boy, want to name him Rome or Milan. Rome doesn’t seem as bad to people, but everyone turns their nose up at Milan. Well, guess who named thier son Milan recently? Shakira. Suddenly, evenyone thinks Milan is a super cool name. *sigh*

I learned with my first nopt to worry about what people have to say about the name one chooses. I named my first daughter Berlin. I got some pretty nasty comments about it from people. But I stuck with. Often, when people meet her they say, wow you’re name is awesome! Everyone thinks her name suits her now, even those who were super against it in my family. She is super beautiful which I imagine helps. (I realize I am biased :P)

I get out of the box names aren’t for everyone. I happen to love traditional names as well. Place names just really resonate with me as I love to travel.

    Here is Berlin:

Not only would people always say it wrong, or say “denim like the jeans” they would ALWAYS spell it wrong.  I’ve had to spell my name for people my whole life – it’s a common name, just the female version and people always spell it like the male version… let me tell you, it sucks…

    I like it.

There are worst things to be compared to than jeans.  For instants my married initials will be TP.  I promise none of my kids first names will start with a T.
