Ahh, my wedding isn’t until August, but I’m worried about the same thing.  I think I’m going to try and remember to control my portions and continue to work out, even when the holidays get crazy with shopping and such.

There is a program at my work that challenges people to maintain or lose weight throughout the holidays; I think you need to weigh in every week.  I think you could probably do something similiar at home.

    December 19th wedding.

    1. Last Sunday was my future mother-in-law’s birthday.  We went to a buffet that I think is probably one of the most expensive in town.  I had to eat enough to get our money’s worth.

    2. I had a pot luck at work this past Tuesday to celebrate Thanksgiving.  Unfortunately, every single dish was delicious.

    3.  A tourist town not far from here has an event every year where you walk around town and tour the historical B&Bs, where each of them has a different kind of homebaked cookie for you to eat.  It’s this weekend.

    4.  Having afternoon tea with Future Mother-In-Law tomorrow.  The buffet where we had her lunch was disappointing (it used to be really good).  I owed her a lunch out anyhow.  The tea room has awesome food.  Afternoon tea includes quiche, soup, sandwiches, tea, and scones!

    5.  Having Thanksgiving dinner with Fiance at Paula Deen’s restaurant in Savannah.  And it’s a buffet!

    6.  Having Christmas dinner early with Fiance, his parents, and my dad at the Biergarten at Epcot before the wedding.

It’ll be a miracle if my dress fits when this is all over.

I am in the same boat GreenEyedMoon! In fact, I had my first dress fitting and I definitely need to lose weight.

For some reason, I can resist food on xmas but NOT Thanksgiving. I’m going to just try smaller portions because i LOVE Thanksgiving food. Sigh.

Also, I will let myself eat at my shower…but that’s it! I think the anxiety of the impending wedding is curbing my appetite a bit thank goodness.

@GreenEyedMoon:  The tea room IS awesome!  I’ve dragged my poor fiance to eat there a couple of times.  He feels out of place, but agrees the food is phenomenal.

My wedding is the day after yours.  I feel your pain on the yummy food temptations during the holidays.  It is also tough because we have a short engagement (5 months).  Definitely a wedding planning fail.  I’m just dieting hard core and make my cheat days those few days.  It’s been working pretty well.  My goal was to lose 15 lbs for the wedding, and I’ve already lost 20.

I realized after buying my perfectly fitting dress I was going to have to be careful. I have gotten back in the gym, but only a few times the past few weeks. I have put myself on a very strict diet starting Monday and have lost 3 pounds. I think of Thanksgiving as one day and I will eat but I will not gorge myself as I usually do with my grandma’s amazing southern cooking. My daughter’s birthday party is this weekend and we are having pizza and cake (from the lady doing my wedding cake) and I will have a piece of each. None of my lovely friends are throwing me a shower so I don’t have to worry about that. Christmas will be worse because Jan 7th is a lot closer than turkey day. New Year’s Eve is supposedly my bachelorette party but no one has mentioned that in a while so I don’t know. If we do out I will be getting quite tipsy then I guess working it off the next few days. I went for my fitting last week, probably a little early but I just wanted to make sure it was done. I won’t get it back till the 10th anyways.

@strawbabies I love tea rooms!!! I want to go too, well after the wedding. lol

@WinterWhite2012 Great job! I would like to drop 20 by the wedding date but I don’t know. lol

Um, I chose OMNOMNOM since I’m certainly not letting you have any of my noms 😉 Luckily I have several months to re-lose the weight. This year I’ve been walking to school (2 or 3 miles 5 days a week) and I’ve lost ten pounds in two months. So even some light exercise like walking every day can really help if you’re concerned.

This thread made me giggle. I got married last December and I put on 4lbs over Thanksgiving weekend. I worked my butt off trying to get rid of it. It worked out. Good luck ladies and I’m sure you’ll all fit in those dresses!
