So me and my honey went to Target late last night and started our registry. I gotta say there’s nothing quite like it, we basically went up and down every single aisle to see what we NEEDED not so much what we wanted.
We ended up with about 29 things that we really needed, but we found ourselves scratching our heads at somethings. Thing is, we don’t know exactly where we’ll be living and how much space we’ll have, and so on, so some stuff we just kind of wandered by because we just didn’t know if we would have the room for it or if we actually needed it. Did anyone have that problem?? Did you just ask for things you just wanted and then return anything you didn’t really need in the long run?
I feel like if I do that I’ll just be wasting my space on the registry–I’d rather get the stuff we really need and not winding up with a bunch of stuff we’ll have to return in the long run.
I find that target is kind of pain because anything that we registered for and then later wanted to take off the list didn’t come off! It came off the scan gun but when I looked at the list when we got home everything we deleted was still there. It’s been squared away and now we have what we want on the registry.
We have one more registry and that’s going to be at Crate & Barrel <3

I would say if you want to do a lot of returning, DO NOT count on Target taking it back. It is notoriously horrible there!
I feel you though. We don’t know where we’ll be living, but we have a general idea of 70% of our needs.

I wouldn’t trust the little guns too much, i scanned everything for my Kohls registry and NOTHING showed up online. Target’s online system has been great for me though.
It is hard deciding what you really need. For example, we currently sleep on a queen size bed but have a king sized bed in our guest room. Obviously we need/want sheets for both sizes, but the styles are going to be different. Eventually we may switch to the bigger bed!

Yeah, I found it really important to double check everything that we scanned in the store online….we came to find that some things were mislabeled, or we mistakenly registered for 3 coffee makers by accident (true story!)
I agree that its really important to check the return policy of the stores you register at to make sure you’ll be able to make returns. My married friends say that ended up getting multiples of certain items (even though they’re supposed to be marked as “fulfilled” on the registry) so you want to be able to take things back.

I went to the store and took some notes and then went online and put everything in myself. I don’t trust the gun things.

Haha yes, we ended up with two vacuums! Had to get rid of the other one quick because they are pretty expensive!
Yeah, I’ve heard of target’s problems with returning things, I just have to count on the purchasers to have gift receipts (whew). We’ll see.
We’re saving our flatware and dishes for Crate and Barrel along with bedding and such. I really wish Ikea still had a registry, I know their stuff is not made well but it does look nice and usually lasts for as long as you need it 😉
Luckily we have a couch already! It’s a god-awful floral pattern, but it’s comfy (and free!) Thank goodness for couch covers!
Thanks everyone for your input, I appreciate it 🙂

Yeah, I thought about doing that too, and it might be what we wind up doing at the other store. We may or may not add anything else to the Target list, depending on if we do well in C&B.
