We met on okcupid…as did my sister and her FI!  🙂  I’d only been a member for 2 days when Fiance first messaged me.  By the end of that week we had our first date.

Also OKCupid.  I feel like they make it a fun, screwing around on internet experience, instead of just a dating thing.  Plus, their oktrends blog is a great read.  Sometimes I’m tempted to go back on there to do more silly quizzes.

It’s definitely the most popular among my friends as well, most of whom live in NY/Boston/SF/LA.  Though I do think it skews young and sometimes towards less serious relationships, so I’m not sure I’d recommend it for someone looking primarily for something serious.

We met on a message board. It wasn’t a dating one: it was a forum on our favourite band’s website – that was back in 2001. Crazy eh?

I didn’t meet my husband online, but I had a really great 2 year relationship with a man I met on The Onion’s dating site!

I met Fiance on Facebook almost 5 years ago. At the time, Facebook was only available to college students, so you could only see people’s profiles if you were part of their “network”, meaning you went to their school. Anybody else you had to friend first.

They also had a search function that allowed you to search people within your network by sex, “likes” male or female, their political affiliation (at the time it was just conservative, moderate, liberal, and variations of those), and some other qualifiers.

So, I was stuck in town for the summer and bored, and I was trying to make some new friends…. and I happened to find Fiance 🙂

@Oneeleven: OMG that is seriously like the exact same story as Fiance and I! lol

I was on POF for about 10months, I went on roughly 12 dates and Fiance messaged me the day I was logging in just to deactivate my account! I was his only date from there too! We haven’t been apart more than 24hrs since we met almost 11 months ago!!

LoL!  wow!  Almost the same amount of time for us exactly and we too have been inseparable! (except when forced by work)

Did you ever worry that he would would b curious about who else was on POF?  I did for a little bit.  I would tease my Fiance about it.

I am still incredulous that I met someone like my Fiance on a dating site.  Not that he or I are “too good” for a site like that, I mean more in the way that … with so many people, thank GOODNESS we started talking.

My fiance and I didn’t meet online.

My sister and her boyfriend did though! On “Plenty of Fish”.

My co-worker and his wife also met on “Plenty of Fish”.

We met through ICQ (a messenger). He saw in my profile that I was studying in the same field his Dad teaches at the college, so he asked me if I had him as a professor. 😛

We met through a forum for African folks in diaspora. He was blown away by my long winded posts (Ms. Epistle he always called me!) and once when the site had a get together, we met up and started dating about a couple of months afterwards. I hardly mention it to folks because after 5 years, no one really asks ‘How did you meet?’
