Hi Everyone – It’s me the mom! I’m new here and helping my newly engaged daughter work on her wedding plan. She is still a student and has just moved to Southern California near West Hollywood. Her wedding is this year in September, she is trying to find someplace fun that isn’t a hotel ballroom with outdoor space. We just arent that familiar with the area and are finding the prices to be astronomical! Have any of you had success planning a wedding recently for 100 guests with a $7,000 to $8,000 budget? She and her fiance are open to looking anywhere from Ventura to Palm Desert. For the sake of us more mature family members not too far up in the mountains or too hard to get to from an airport would be even more perfect

methemom : You might have a difficult time finding a venue with that budget for 100 people in the LA area.
I’ve heard that Wedgewood Weddings are affordable and they have property all over Southern California!

She should also see if her school has any venues that are available for students to rent inexpensively. I went to a wedding at CalTech once in a beautiful outdoor space.

That kind of budget in LA is going to be super difficult. If she’s into DIY, there’s the option of renting an Airbnb and doing everything on-site there. Otherwise, I would suggest state parks/state land, school campus, or restaurants.

I am getting married in SoCal and we found our venue on splacer, that way you can see the hourly rate ahead of time and contact venues that will work for your budget. Restaurants are also great options for that price point, most will give you the space for free with a food and beverage minimum. Try the federal bar in Long Beach.

Thanks everyone! We decided to go North a bit to Paso Robles to a beautiful and well priced vineyard. The owners are so helpful and generous too. Many of our guest will be traveling no matter where the location so we think this will work for most
