Ladies, I’m so excited, it’s embarrassing!
I’ve considered myself to be “waiting” for maybe 2 years now (we’ve been together for 3 years total and moved in together after year 1), and SO has been open to discussion but ultimately not ready to move forward yet. I’ve been (mostly) very patient!
We’ve discussed that I want to help pick out the ring and that we’ll go shopping together when the time is right. WELL, last night the topic of someone else’s engagement came up and I asked teasingly “when are we going to go shopping?” He replied “soon” and then paused for a few moments and said “maybe the weekend after we get back from Florida?” THAT’S IN 3 WEEKS! AHHHH!!!
We’re both slow and deliberate shoppers when it comes to big purchases, so I don’t doubt that our ring shopping process will go on for quite some time, but the fact that he’s ready to actually look at options is a HUGE step forward!
Anyone have good ring shopping advice?? I’ve done a TON of research already but I want to take it slow and not intimidate my sweet SO. 🙂

Aww! Congratulations! 🙂 As far as advice, you could play dumb and act like your don’t know every. single. thing. there is to know about e-rings. OR since you both are slow shoppers, you can start the conversation during the trip in a light moment of “You know how girls are, I’ve had my ideal ring picked out forever!” and educate him on what you’re wanting and why. That way you may not have to stretch the buying process out forever by showing him you’ve already done the research.

@sweetdee522: Thank you!! And great advice. I don’t want to overwhelm him, but he knows how much of a planner I am and probably wouldn’t believe if I feigned total ignorance. Hahaha.

My biggest surprise when ring shopping was what I did like and didn’t. I had done a lot of research online and knew a couple of styles that I wanted to try on, but when we got to the store, I didn’t like any of them. I kind of felt lost, like I didn’t know what I wanted. But I think if you just try different styles, it will be easiest to tell what you like and what looks best on your hand. good luck!

Me and my Fiance went together ring shopping as well. I knew I found my ring when I put it on, and I just became overwhelmed with this happy feeling. I know it sound so utterly ridiculous. I just looked at my Fiance and said, “I can’t wait to marry you!” and kinda cried…he was like…this is the one! haha
