My Fiance and survived the holidays! How about you all…
My Fiance and I have been discussing holiday plans since July.. no lie! I was so nervous for our families to meet – my family can be seriously stuck up and his family can be a bit loose shall we say. Over the past 4 months we have gone through hell deciding how we wanted to spend the holidays. Our house, my moms house, my grandparents house, his family house in Jersey… have I mentioned what an indecisive couple we are to boot!? Christmas dinner was like pulling teeth, but we managed to get my youngest sibling, my grandparents from my moms side, my dad and my FI’s dad here. Note, my mother did not show 🙁 she refuses to support our relationship – she can’t bring herself to be more than civil to my Fiance. Anyway – even though it was such a pain getting those 5 people here we ended up having a blast! The families loved each other – probably because drinks were flowing, but I’m sure the good conversation and awesome food from my chef Fiance helped too! Christmas dinner ended with minimal tears (someone always has to shed a tear to make it a genuine Christmas!) and a week later we were at it again hosting new years dinner! This time, we managed to get my grandparents and his aunt and uncle here and you would have thought they have known each other for years! By the end of the night we all had laughed together, cried together, ate together, and my grandmother even gave us the ultimate blessing by singing sister sledge “We are family” after dinner.
Four months of stressing about the worst possible scenario and the holidays ended up being amazing! Has anyone else every stressed about the families meeting and it ended up being a blast?
