- Wedding: November 1999
So when we first started planning our wedding, we knew we’d have to keep it on a smaller budget, but we went in the direction of having a more traditional type of reception (meal, music, dancing, etc). There will probably be about 60 people at our wedding.
As we continue planning and time is passing, I feel more and more strongly that I don’t want a traditional reception. I don’t want the first dance and father/daughter dance with everyone watching, I don’t want everyone sitting at different tables with an official dinner time, I don’t want a grand entrance with our names being announced… I really just want everyone mingling with some finger foods and cake, some alcohol, and music playing but not any official dances. More like a swanky cocktail party.
My Fiance is okay with some of that, but he really wants to have the special dances and some of the more traditional aspects to the reception. His family doesn’t care what we do (they told us to elope) and my family has a lot of negative dynamics, so I’m just stressed in general trying to plan this out. What to do… advice?
