9-5???  Really?  Our internet company gives you a four or five hour window and that is obnoxious enough.  So basically this person will show up at some point within normal business hours?  I usually just request the person to call my cell before they get there, that way I don’t have sit at home the whole day and get nothing done.  Its worked pretty well in the past.

Wow, 9-5 is a HUGE window!! I hear you on the frustration though, we are now making our 3rd attempt to get someone to install our cable in our new place. The first time, the guy didn’t feel like waiting for our porter to let him into the apartment and left. The second time, no one even came and now I’m frightened to see what will happen tomorrow 🙁

Yuck!  When we had our cable installed they gave us a 4 hour window, between 12 and 4, and they said they would call me when they were on their way so I could leave work and meet them there.  They ended up showing up 2 hours early and never called.  Thankfully my SO was home all day anyways.

Ugh. I hate waiting for deliveries/services. We’ve had pretty good luck with internet/cable, but the furniture companies hate me.

When I bought my mattress/boxspring, I was given a 5 hour delivery window. I stayed around the apartment, twiddling my thumbs and waiting. Nobody showed up. I called the company. Apparently the person who sold me the mattress had been fired and nobody bothered to follow up on his orders/paperwork. Real professional, right? So they finally sorted it out and gave me a 2 hour window for the next day.

Well, the next morning, after a series of phone calls, the 2 hour window became a 4 hour window, which became a 6 hour window, and when the delivery guy finally showed up, he had the nerve to ask for 30 bucks even though it said right on the slip that delivery was included in the purchase price as part of the promotion.

Then my BIL bought Darling Husband and I a new couch as his wedding gift to us. It was supposed to be delivered on May 31st. Darling Husband got a call May 30th, after 9pm saying, “Sorry, the couch hasn’t reached our warehouse yet so we will be unable to deliver it tomorrow. We’ll call you again when it comes in.” Really? You couldn’t give us even 24 hours’ notice?

Sigh.

DIRECTV has had to come out twice to our apartment, and each time I’ve requested their 12noon-4pm slot (because we don’t like to get up early).  Both times the guys have called our place around 8am asking if they could come out sooner because their previous appointments finished early.  WTF?  But yeah, I agree that 8 hour timeframe is ridiculous, sorry.
