samantha83 :  one thing I think looks coolis A-Z dates: you take it in turns to choose a place/activity starting with the letters A-Z. Eg A could be an archery lesson, B could be boating, C could be a cookery class; etc.

Otherwise, we tend to do the following (pretty standard) for date days/nights: dinner; drinks; day trips (usually sightseeing in local towns/cities); picnics; the zoo; cinema; bowling.

Rules are no phones so that we are actually communicating, and if we go out to dinner we also make an effort and dress up.

The cinema is my least favourite activity for a date night as you aren’t really spending time together properly.

Try to find some neat places to go to that you haven’t been before in your city.  Groupon can help with this.  Some neat stuff we have done: roller skating at a roller rink, indoor mini-golf in the winter, fancy picnic in a local state park, ice skating at an old train depot, checking out a local museum.

DH and I go to the movies once a week, rarely we skip if we’ve seen everything already but pretty much every Thursday we go to an early showing and have popcorn for dinner.

I also think groupon is a great place to find ideas – that’s how we went to paint date (which we loved), we went to a lecture in a pub (also interesting), escape room etc.

Or the usual – restaurant, movie, ride on a bike to the park …

My Fi and I have a standing night every week that I will make dinner, have wine and just hangout for the evening. We both work a lot so it is nice to know that we have “wine night” to break up the week.

We at home movie nights. We go to the store and get our favorite snacks, pick out a movie we’ve really been wanting to see, and snuggle on the couch together.

We make romantic dinners at home for each other. A lot of nights he is really busy with work/school so we either eat dinner seperatly or just really quickly. It’s nice to schedule a night where we make dinner together (or at least hang out while one of us is doing the bulk of the cooking) and really sit down to enjoy our meal and each other’s company.

Hiking is a very typical go-to date for us, usually followed by trying out a new brewery or going to an old favorite.

Sometimes groupon has fun things – like recently my mom sent us a coupon from there for a ghost tour in a nearby town. It should make for a fun date night!

ETA: Going to a drive-in movie or finding a park that plays movies outside during the summer can be a really fun alternative to the typical “dinner and a movie” date night.

We like to watch really terrible movies, stuff like low budget inspirational movies, bad westerns, laughable horror movies, etc. It’s entertaining because we can joke around during the movie and several of them have been good conversation starters. It’s a fun twist on the usual movie night.

My husband and I like to travel so every weekend we will pick somewhere new that we can drive to and explore even just as a day trip. We dont rule out anything, so our usual trip would be a nice town, with a hike and meal out but we have also been in caves, biking, kayaking, boating, abseiling etc.. Basically whatever that area is famous for, we try to do. There are things weve tried and never want to do again… but there are also things weve enjoyed that we never thought we would try.

Another recommendation I have is to take a photo of every date you go on, and at your 1 year anniversary which is paper, make a scrapbook with 1 photo from each date or place to look back on.
