Some brides might wig out, but I’d actually take it as a compliment. I don’t think you have to mention it to her before the wedding, but talking to her about it ahead of time might help you feel less worried/stressed.

But if she’s not okay with it for some reason, just remember that you don’t actually need her permission. She doesn’t own it and she’s obviously not the only bride in history to ever wear it. At the end of the day, the only person you have to make happy is yourself.

I have two friends that wore the same dress in a 6 month period. As a guest, I had no idea! It looked completely different on them because they have different body types and accessorized differently. When bride #1 gushed over the dress at bride #2’s wedding and told us it was the same as hers- we were all so surprised. Bride #1 was really flattered and enjoyed looking at her favorite dress all night, haha.

I could see issue with this if it were a custom-designed dress and you were having a copy made, but that’s not the case. You should wear your dream dress!

i personally wouldn’t care since it’s not like the dress was custom made or something. and it might look completely different on you depending on how you accessorize and stuff.

Oh my gosh…who cares. Girl if this is the dress you love wear it and don’t even think twice!

If she ends up caring then she should have gotten a custom one of a kind dress made otherwise she needs to get over herself, she got a retail mass produced dress, there’s thousands of brides who wore the same one, it’s just coincidence that you two happen to have mutual friends and attending each other’s wedding.

If you love the dress don’t compromise just because you happen to have a later wedding that’s silly. Personally I would never care if someone wore my dress I would actually be flattered.

I wore the same dress as DHs cousin, but didn’t realize it until it was too late. It was a plain strapless ballgown, so nothing super memorable to guests. We accesorized totally different, and I don’t think anyone knew except us.

Even if it had been a memorable dress… I think I still wouldn’t have cared. I don’t believe in compromising on something like that on the off chance a couple people might notice.

I would just wear it and play dumb if she says something like you didn’t realize it was the same dress. If you settle for another dress you dont love as much you will regret it.

Its not that *unique* of a dress that something in a similar style would probably also look close to the same. Also, I’m assuming your body type, hair colour, hair style, veil, skin tone, accessories, makeup, etc will all be different, so you in general will look different. I wouldn’t worry about it. Get the dress you want.

Unless of course she has reason to think you are obsessed with her anyway….insert mean girls meme here 😉

faerie87 :  Wear the dress!  I would not care at all if someone wanted to buy the same dress I wore.  I honestly doubt anyone besides the bride would even notice.

I don’t think the AV has a train byt the Tara Keely does (and is designed by Lazaro)

faerie87 :  I don’t know why a bride would be upset. I LOVE my dress, and I would be happy to see anyone else in it, as happy as me! I have considered lending my dress to brides I know who are short on money, but I am terrified it would be returned stained or ripped or something. But if they bought it, good on them! I would be honored they loved it so much on me, to want it on them! 🙂
