Wow 7 weeks!!! That is so awesome! I don’t have any idea how you come off of progesterone, I just started taking mine for the tww.  I’m pretty sure that runningelley was on progesterone for quite a bit of time.   Good Luck!!!!!!

Hi! I was on progesterone twice daily from weeks 5-13. When my doctor instructed me to stop cold turkey at the end of week 12, I freaked. So, instead of stopping cold turkey, I did once a day instead of twice a day for the next week and a half. My body responded well to the weaning and I didn’t have any issues.

Your progesterone levels aren’t low, right? It’s just a RE recommendation until a certain week? I actually had low progesterone levels (low to me but my doc wasn’t quite concerned). When I was cleared to quit, I had so many emotions (and fears) about it. Thankfully, I was ok.

Lots of girls on the boards have been on progesterone and weaned off without any problems. Some actually do stop cold turkey and are fine too, but I wanted to wean just to prepare my body more! Good luck!

@Mrs. Jaguar:  My RE took me off mine at 7W2D cold turkey.  Everything has been fine so far.  My body adjusted just fine to not taking them.  HOwever, I was only on one suppositiory a day.  But, they were actually pretty easy going about it.  They were actually going to take me off the week prior, but I had so many he told me to go ahead and take them for another week.

Congrats to you! I was on the Progesterone oral pill Prometrium from 5 weeks until 12 weeks. I asked my doctor about weaning off of it, but she said just to stop cold turkey. I did and everything was fine. πŸ™‚

I was on the progesterone injections (ouch!) until around week 10, then switched to the once a day suppositories until week 12 (my IVF clinic makes you use them a lot longer) and once I graduated from my RE to my OB she said I could stop at 12 weeks. I used one every other day for a few days, then stopped. I didn’t want to just quit cold turkey either! You can just wean off for a few days if it makes you feel better. I did. πŸ™‚

I just finished using them! (and I have 3/4 of a box left…. booooooooo!) I felt really weird about just stopping but thats what my RE told me to do!

@Mrs. Jaguar:  are you off metformin yet? I took my last dose on Sunday and it was super weird to not have to take it anymore…

I went cold turkey off of progesterone injections at 10 weeks and it was no problem.

@Mrs. Jaguar:  I’m not on the Metformin anymore either.  The only think I”m taking now a days is my prenatal vitamin.  So far, I haven’t noticed any effects from the no metformin.  BUt, I never really had an issue with my insulin to begin with.

@Mrs. Jaguar:  FYI, I went off Metformin & Progesterone at 12 weeks and just finished my GD tests.

Was really scared of having GD.

Failed the 1 hour test. Passed the 3-hour test.

Don’t worry too much!

@Mrs. Jaguar:  YES. OK I was a mess the week my doctor told me I could get off. I pretty much said “thanks but, no thanks!” She told me after 11-12 weeks, it is pointless and useless…BUT she also said: there is NO such thing as too much progesterone.

So, I was told to quit at 11w but had some left so I kept taking them….until 12w. Then I even bought the progesterone cream (less effective but still great) and used that until 14w. Here I am at 34+6w πŸ™‚ after my OB told me at 6w that my prog levels were so LOW that i’d be “lucky if this baby survives”. I love progesterone…..Keep taking it for a peice of MIND! Seriously..what harm can it do?

Elley & jholler weaned off too and I remember how terrified we all were but I we’re all still standing!

You shouldn’t fill your pregnancy with worry…I get that…it took me awhile but I now get that….But, if you can control *some things* or make your feel like you are in control, that’s nice. I have to say the worry didn;t end for me until about 24w, when I could feel him kicking very strongly on an hourly basis.

reg metformin: I was on it too but started getting horrible m/s at 6w, so I quit metformin cold turkey and it was fine. Not recommending that (my case was unique) but just saying πŸ™‚
