Not all pantyhose are created equal. I haven’t gotten a chance to try these yet, but hopefully they feel as nice as they look! http://www.secretsinlace.com/category/Stockings

I might be biased though, because I love stockings. I feel very glam and sexy in them.

I say splurge on a nice pair and go for it!

When is the wedding?  Black tights (I assume you mean more opaque ones since you don’t like sheers) seem kind of heavy for a spring wedding.  I think bare legs are a lot more ok now than they were in the past.

Don’t wear hose. Get opaque tights. They look so much better and a lot more chic, in my opinion. I honestly think hose just make any outfit look dated, but opaque tights are super cute and modern.

I may be in the minority and a little old fashioned, but I think pantyhose or stockings are a must for any work or evening occasion. So if the only option you like is black, wear black. Personally, though, I’m in the camp that the for a formal look, black should usually balance, so if you if you have bare arms, you should have flesh tone legs. Exceptions, of course, especially if you are going for a more funky look.

But, I wear hose or tights everyday for work, and all winter with skirts and dresses. I love them: fancy, colorful, lacy, business, all of it. In fact, I wear hose and tights so often I had to take out my (ill-advised) bellyring because it kept getting caught in them. 40 years of that seemed aweful.

For an April wedding in Virginia I would say lose the hose and go bare legged! It will be warmer than you think! I think dresses are a lot sexier without the hose and I dont think wearing a dress without hose is informal at all!! Especially with closed toed pumps

My vote would be for bare legs, but my second choice would be textured tights.  Sheer black hose feels dated to me.
