I have only attended a couple of bridal showers in my life, but seen plenty of photos on Facebook and notice the bride almost always wears white. Is it strange not to wear white? I bought a fun coral red dress and looking for a reason to wear it. I’d love to wear it to my April bridal shower, but wonder if I should be in white instead. I know rules can be broken, but I don’t want to seem completely different.

Go for it! No reason you have to wear white just because a lot of other brides do. Everyone there knows who you are, as the guest of honor, so it’s no big deal.

Wearing white to all pre-wedding events is a recent trend and definitely not required!

I don’t know that I’ve ever been to a shower where the bride wore white. I usually see it at the rehearsal, but not showers. So wear whatever you want 🙂

Wear whatever you want to your bridal shower you are the guest of honour. I would just let your mom and future mother in law and your bridal party know what colour you’re wearing you don’t want anyone else to wear the same colour as you

I wanted to wear white to my shower and couldn’t find anything I liked. And then I found this amazing dress that had my wedding colors in it (teal and coral) and knew it was the one. Wear what you want! 🙂

sabrina8candy : You can wear whatever color you want!
krjunebride : I also struggled to find the perfect white dress but found a beautiful light pink dress that I ended up wearing.

sabrina8candy : Personally, I would prefer not to wear white and save the white dress for the actual wedding day. I would rather wear something floral and printed.

I didn’t wear white to any of my showers. I had a super pretty white dress that I saved for the rehearsal dinner. I wore a blue dress to one of my showers and a green to the other. I had a blue & white wedding so my dress matched my theme.
But I know people do it and get weird about it too. I was Maid/Matron of Honor in my friends wedding and we all were supposed to wear black shirts & she wear white and my shirt had a teeny bit of ivory embroidery & she made a comment about it!

It’s up to you! I wore a blush dress!

Come to think of it, I had mentally thought I’d wear white to my pre wedding events, but ultimately wore blushes and golds. My wedding dress itself was ivory with a champagne overlay.

sabrina8candy : You can wear whatever you want really. I have been to a couple recently and one bride to be wore a pretty blue maxi dress while another wore white pants and a pink top.

I wore a green dress. White looks terrible with my skin tone lol.

Totally wear whatever you want! I wore a white dress to one of my showers and a light teal to the other two. I think the whole trend of brides wearing white is that it’s kind of an excuse to wear a white dress when all white might seem odd to wear in other situations. The only reason I even HAD a white dress to wear is that I saw it on clearance on Modcloth and thought it would be cute. I didn’t feel like I needed to search for one specifically for the shower.

I ended up renting this dress from Rent the Runway. The shower is hosted by FMIL’s friend and all attendees will be their friends, so I figured I’d be more “traditional” and wear white-ish.
