I think the platinum one is the hardest

Over time, the platinum will become scratched and develop a patina.  No platinum will be lost, just redistributed, while the gold will slowly wear away.  I would ask your jeweler for his or her opinion.

The platinum can and will become scratched over time which is the patina but it will not loose any metal the gold

will and can become scratched by the platinum if you are worried about it u can get a very thin spacer I got

a .9mm platinum spacer for my platinum wedding set u can barely see it but it aure buffers the two rings

My ering is platinum and the band I have been wearing every day was 14 yellow gold and didn’t have any problems with scratches beside the scratches made by every day abuse…

Platinum though more strong than gold is actually softer, more easy to scratch and mold to your finger shape. I wear my platinum band with my 18k gold band next to each other sometimes. No problems so far but I haven’t worn them together for enough time to make a difference. If your worried I’d just get a spacer band so the plat doesn’t wear down the gold band. Feel free to post a pic 🙂

Gold = Harder, More Brittle

Platinum = Softer, More Malleable

If a gold prong gets caught on something, it’s more likely to snap, while a platinum prong is more likely to bend.

Both can be scratched.

When Gold is scratched, you LOSE that gold because of the brittleness. Those small bits of gold break away from the ring. Gold will also wear away over time, which is why antique gold rings often have very narrow shanks, especially on the underside. They didn’t start out that thin. They wore down over time.

Platinum, because it is softer, does NOT wear away. When Platinum is scratched, the molecules just move around.
