My friend is getting married this October and I would like to know if you guys think this outfit has an innappropriate amount of white or if it would be ok to wear? (I would not be wearing a white flower in my hair.) There is no white on the front, just the back. I would also wear red shoes.
Thanks in advance for all your guys’ help!

That is a red dress. Not at all a white dress. The idea of not wearing white to a wedding means not wearing something that could be mistaken for a wedding dress, there is no way anyone would ever think that is anything close to a wedding dress.

I voted the wrong way. I misread the question, that dress is totally fine so ignore the one dissenting opinion.

I think it’s adorable! No problem at all.

That’s not a white dress. I voted that it’s fine to wear to a wedding, and I think that it is… in 2012.
However…. (people are going to boo, and I might have things thrown at me if this were real life!) since the tradition of not wearing white stems from not upstaging the the bride, it wasn’t that long ago that women would shy away from wearing very bright colors like red to a wedding. In 2012, this bit of history has pretty much faded from everyone’s mind though, and you’ll probably get compliments on that cute dress.

@UmbrellaMoon: You read my mind. Red is a color attracts attention. I wouldn’t wear that color either.

I think it’s fine. Though I’m not one who understands the concept of dictating the colors guests can wear at the wedding (i.e. I don’t care if someone shows up in white, wouldn’t give it a second thought, as I’ve got better things to pay attention to).
What are guests supposed to wear to avoid attention? Burkas? Red is a perfectly fine color, no more attention grabbing than bright blue, bright yellow, or any other bright color.

I think you’ll be fine. I’d love to see the front!

Thanks for all the input ladies, you all have helped very much!!! I decided to wear the dress. The to be bride is absolutely gorgeos and it would be impossible to upstage her! 🙂 I just didn’t want to be innapropriate in my attire. Thanks again!
