I honestly do not know if there is an etiquette rule governing this (but, if there is, I’m sure one of the other bees will tell us); however, I have been to two receptions that have not immediately followed the couples’ weddings, and both times, the brides have worn their wedding gowns. I personally had no problem with either bride doing this and was happy for them that they had the opportunity to wear their wedding attire a second time.

Even if all of your guests are attending both events, I would kind of expect you to wear the dress to both. But, if you’re having a casual reception and want to wear a more casual dress because of that more power to you. I think the only thing that would surprise me is if you wore two “wedding dress” dresses. As in you spent 5k (just threw out a number, no idea what your wedding dress cost you and I’m not judging you if it costs more or less) on each. But plenty of people do that nowadays so who am I to judge.

You probably spent a lot of money on your dress, so I would embrace the fact that you get to wear it twice! 🙂
