Hi Bees! DH and I are finally taking our belated honeymoon – to Hawaii!! Yay! We’ll be going to Maui (Wailea) and Kauai (Poipu). The thing is, I keep checking weather.com and it looks like its going to rain all week! Boo!! Can any Bees tell me to chill out? That even if its going to rain all week, it will be beautiful?! I just need someone to reassure me a little.

Hey there! We’re headed to Kauai in 2 weeks actually, and I’m committed to NOT checking the weather. The guidebook that I’ve read says that rain will never ruin your trip to hawaii. First of all, even if it rains it is usually a fast 1 hour storm and then sunny the rest of the day. Second… even if it is raining, you’re still in HAWAII. 🙂 Don’t worry about it… just enjoy!

Kauai does get more rain- it’s not called the Garden Isle for nothing. The rain however is very warm and usually comes in short showers and won’t interfere with your plans.
Maui is much drier.
Take a lightwieght Gortex jacket and you will be fine.

@CorgiTales – I seriously don’t know what I was thinking when I started checking weather.com. Once I started – it became an obsession, lol. I’m gonna stop checking the weather forecast and just chill. Thank you very much.
@julies1949 – Thank you for the reminder regarding the gortex jacket – much appreciated!

We just got back from our honeymoon in Maui a few weeks ago. We were there for two weeks which I purposely planned on just in case we got rained out for a few days. Well, the first three days were terrible and the ocean even turned a disgusting brown for a day or two. But the rest of the trip we had the best weather ever.
I’ve been rained out badly only once in the 30 plus times I’ve been to Maui(I kind of love it there, can you tell? lol) and it wasn’t too bad even then. It probably won’t rain the entire time and even if it’s cloudy and not raining, it’s still warm so you can go in the pool and do some beach walks, maybe a little hiking but you’ll be limited by mud in some areas. But it WILL be beautiful and tropical and you can have nice dinners and cocktails. The whale watching will be amazing whether you take a boat or just sit on shore. There’s a submarine called Atlantis that goes out around the reefs so you can see the fish, etc. in case you can’t snorkel much. As long as it’s not pouring rain, there are places you can go just to watch the surf crash, which is incredible in the winter.
You’ll have fun as long as you’re creative-it’s Hawaii no matter what 🙂

I’ve been to Hawaii 3 times for a total of 4-5 weeks there and I don’t think I can recall a day that it *didn’t* rain. lol The thing is that it usually only rains for a little bit and then the rest of the day is clear and typically beautiful! Definitely expect Kaua’i to be more rainy then Mau’i, but also keep in mind that on Mau’i (for instance), places like the Io Needle and the volcano tend to draw in more clouds/rain then the rest of the island (something about them being a magnet for weather… lol). As a pp said, in all my time there, I’ve not had more then *maybe* one bad day of rain.

It always rains in Hawaii! It will be beautiful no matter what, and the rolling clouds you’ll see are amazing.

I just moved away from Hawaii and I miss it SO MUCH>
the weather is the same year round, between 70 and 75 for the most part with the rare swing down to 65 or up to 80 (except Big Island) and it rains every single day of the year everywhere. It just does. And then it stops. And it is ALWAYS beautiful.
Bring a light raincoat or umbrella, and a waterproof baggie for your camera. And then–enjoy it. it’s going to be AWESOME.

Ahhh so excited for you!!!!
Don’t worry! It’s Hawaii! It will be fantastic and romantic no matter what. I have also heard the rain comes and goes quickly.
I just booked for Kauai and can’t wait. I’m sure you will have an amazing time. How can you not!
Curious as to where you are staying on Kauai? We will be staying at Poipu beach as well (this august)

This is one of the many reasons I love Weddingbee (months after my wedding) – thank you ladies for all your responses 🙂 I’ve been a-stressin’, and I feel so much better now.
Brooklyngirlie22 – We are staying at the Wailea Beach Marriott Resort and Spa in Maui and then Marriott’s Waiohai Beach Club in Poipu – pretty stoked to check both of ’em both out. My brother and his wife went to Kauai on their honeymoon (years ago) in August, and they had great weather!! It’s going to be wonderful!!!
