I have been using clip in extensions for years. I have also had sew in weaves. It seems like the sew in weaves only look real if you leave some hair out. I am doing an 11-day cruise right after my wedding for my honeymoon so I will likely be in the water everyday, either in the pool or in the ocean. Thus, I am trying to decide whether a sew in or clip ins would be better.
I have had full sew ins before and it did not look real. I have tried the invisible part, which has to be repaired everytime you wash your hair and that’s a mess. I recently looked into micro-link extensions, but they are so expensive. I’m just not willing to pay $400 for a weave after spending all this money on a wedding.
Any suggestions on weave versus clip ins? I have had clip ins on a cruise before and it really wasn’t a big problem. I could let my hair dry naturally and then flat iron it and curl it again. I wore it in a cute ponytail most of the time to the side.
I really want ESPECIALLY nice looking hair for my wedding day but don’t know which way to go. And if anyone knows of a great salon to do my hair for my wedding, whether it be the weave or styling my clip ins in or around the Atlanta area please let me know. It would be a great help. I’m getting married in 3 weeks so I really need to make a decision! Thanks for your help!

How long is your hair and what is your hair texture? If I were you, I would get a weave, but in hair similar to your texture. I feel like a weave can be styled in many different ways better than clip ins. Being that you are in Atlanta, you are in the Mecca of black hair specialist, so finding good hair and a great “weavologist” shouldn’t be hard. Another good place to search is the “black hair media” forum; they have been a Godsend in my hair buying process!

Im on the clip ins side. I recently started using them and I LOVE them. If properly installed they can be styled just as good as natural hair or full sew in. And the plus is that you can swim on your honeymoon without trying to protect the sew in. Also with the sew in if you do swim you will spend a lot of time in maintenance making sure the braids are dry under the weave along with making sure the weave is dry and still have to style it.

I’m another for clip ins. While I have never had a full see in, I did like the ease if taking out the clip ins when the night was over. (Before we canceled our honeymoon,) I had planned to have my clip ins for the wedding day and get my hair braided the next daafford a stress free hairstyle I can get wet.

I suggest a wet and wavy full head sew in. I was never into weaves before but one year when going on a vaca with the Boyfriend or Best Friend I decided I need to just relax and enjoy all week without the hair worries. I did a curly weave and it was AMAZING!! I used a cheap hair called Sensual Deep wave. Was about $40/pk. Put 3 packs in my hair and everyone thoughg it was my own. I swam, washed it, moussed it and was good to go!! Depending on how you do the front there are many options for styling it as well. I left the front out and gel’d it most days. but when I wanted a change I’d flat iron the front and curl with a small iron and it was FANTASTIC!!
I have also heard of but never tried the wet/straight hair. It’s a synthetic hair that can be worn straight and you can also just wash and wear and it goes curly.
