- Wedding: November 2018
Hello, this is my first time posting! My name is Esther, my fiancé and I have been engaged since 9/13/16. Our wedding plans got postposned when I found out that I was pregnant. Our son was born 9/29/17 and in all honesty the last thing on my mind was the wedding, but a couple of weeks ago my fiancé, out of the blue told me that he doesn’t want to wait anymore and he doesn’t want to spend another year not married to me.. sooo we’re getting married!!! In less than 4 months LOL!
OK so now that you know my story a little bit, I’ll get right into the reason for my post.
We have decided to get married in our most favorite vacation place ever which is Bryson city North Carolina, We’re planning a Small ceremony that would include just our closest friends and family that would actually travel up to that area just to be a part of our ceremony.
We want to select a cabin that has a beautiful Mountain View and hopefully a yard or garden area within the cabins grounds so that we can just elope right on the property and then afterwords Have an intimate dinner with our friends and family surrounded by natural beauty. They’ll be no decor such as ribbons or extra flowers etc. just a simple, private, and intimate event where nature would be our decor.
So with all this talk about my wedding and what it will and won’t be that leads me next to talk about the most important thing “at least in my opinion” my dress.
Where I live here in Hope Mills North Carolina, there are a couple of small bridal boutiques And we also have a David’s bridal, Before I found out that I was pregnant, I actually went shopping at a couple of the boutiques and also had an appointment at David’s bridal where I tried on several wedding dresses, I did find a few that I liked and I could even say that I loved but the truth of the matter is the price wasn’t right for me. I consider myself to be quite frugal and I love a good bargain but I somehow always seem to fall in love and choose items that upon looking at the price tag are way out of my budget or just something I would never spend that amount of money on simply because I know I can probably get a better deal elsewhere. So knowing what I had seen at those shops and knowing what was out there, I started looking online a little bit for inexpensive wedding dresses, low-cost wedding dresses, discount wedding dresses and I even searched Preowned wedding dresses. What I found were some pretty interesting websites, a lot of them have these gorgeous photos of these absolutely beautiful dresses And the prices are honestly, Unbelievable. After doing a little bit of research I realize that most of these companies and websites are based out of China which I’m sure right now is sending shivers down your spine as it did mine because..how desperate could I possibly be that I would put my wedding dress in the hands of an overseas company in the hopes of getting a beautiful garment at a discount price.
I spent the last couple of weeks salivating over all of the beautiful pictures on the sites and actually reading all of the reviews on the dresses, some of the websites even allow people that have purchased the dresses upload photographs of themselves wearing the garments, But that just wasn’t enough to convince me that my wedding dress would come out just as beautiful as these women were looking on the website. I decided to check out YouTube because it seems like everybody is on YouTube and they do unboxings and product reviews so I thought, I wonder if anybody had actually purchased from these websites and done an online reviews so that I could see a live unboxing of these dresses. After Searching YouTube I found a few videos that were pretty decent of women that had purchased wedding dresses and they stated that they were actually for their wedding day, They all seemed to be pretty positive but there were a few that were negative reviews.. again there wasn’t enough out there for me to Take that leap of faith. So I thought to myself what if I wrote a letter to some of these websites and asked if they would participate in an experiment if you will, they would send me one of their wedding dresses and I would then complete a full YouTube video of each dress, I would link the website, And give a full an honest review of the actual garment received that would include how it was packaged, the quality of the garment, the fit etc.
So I did it! I wrote the letter and I sent it out to about 20 different websites offering these beautiful wedding dresses at a fraction of what the area boutiques offer and I’ve received a few responses already!!
My question is would A YouTube blog like the one I described be of interest to other women? I mean if no one else really cares about this topic then essentially what’s the point. So before I proceed with this I’m wondering if I could get a little feedback from the ladies on this website as to whether not you would be interested in and actually watch these on boxings.
If I get a good enough response then I’ll post the link to the YouTube channel and we’ll go from there.
