I feel the same way – I do not take good photos at all. I almost always hate them. We are getting our engagement pictures taken this Saturday and now I’m wondering why I even decided to do them.
Good luck, I hope you end up feeling beautiful that day and loving the pictures!

Can you visit your dentist for a quick fix for your teeth? You never know what they’re willing to work in for you even though your wedding is 9 days away. There *are* worse things that dentists have had to fix on the fly. If you can’t manage that now, ask your photographer to help find your best angle, share your concerns. This will help your photographer deliver what you want. If you’re worried about closeups, maybe your photographer can do 3/4 shots instead of full on face shots. Work with your vendor and I’m sure you can come up with a good plan.

Thanks for the ideas. The dentist is probably out of the question, but I didn’t even think of just telling the photographer that I’m self conscious about my teeth and to not have close up face pics. Thank you!

Yay! Maybe you can come up with some demure, coy closed-mouth poses, and there is always the magic of photoshop to create a look you desire. We all have our stuff that we deal with about ourselves. Still, I’m sure you’ll be beautiful on your special day no matter what!

This is going to sound ridiculous, but hear me out. Get a friend, your fiance or a camera with a timer function and practice different smiles. Don’t do the godawful “selfie” shot and hold the camera above your head, it screws up the angles. You want a head on shot, profile shot and semi profile. Once you know what looks good, practice that smile. It’s not just that models are photogenic – they know their angles, they know what expressions look good for them and which ones don’t work.
Also, let your photographer know what you’re self conscious about. It’s a hard thing to tell someone, but it’s worth it. Good photographers will work around that and try and focus on what you DO like.
