I am looking to see what people have paid for a wedding album. I am on Shutterfly and for their best quality 8×11 album, plus a photo on the cover it looks like it will be over $460.
From the website my photographer gave me, there is an upfront $50 design fee, then once they develop some concepts for an album you can choose. But all it says is starting as low as $100… I hate that kind of wording. The price for them to do a photo on the front is much cheaper than Shutterfly though.. like $150 cheaper
What prices have you paid? If you did it yourself through an online service, what did you use and were you happy with the quality?

Take a look at MPIX.com. They did a great job. I don’t recall the cost but way less than $460.

I’ve attached a pic of our wedding album pricing from Shutterfly. It was $195 and then I had a half off code (which they do often). If your Shutterfly book is $460, I’m guessing you are wanting a lot of customized stuff or a lot of pages, which I think the book through the photographer would be way more. Plus, I was really impressed with the quality of Shutterfly.

I have been super happy with Mixbook. They are usually rated the highest of all the photo book sites. Coupons make a huge difference in pricing so set up your book and wait for a good one to order it.
That being said, it is a labor of love and very time consuming. So if photo books are not your thing, spend the extra money with the photographer to get it done timely and without a lot of headaches.

missconvy : missconvy :
the thing that jacked up the price is to have picture on the cover. I think the plain leather one looks lame. Even my vacation albums have a photo on the front. Also, the one you have selected is a lower quality
Whenyou bought the leather one, can you add any text at least to the cover? I didn’t remember seeing that option.

mpix is consistently rated one of the best photo printing sites consumers can use (vs. professional photographers).
Ive purchased many prints and albums from them and am really very happy with the quality. They frequently offer sales (eg 40% off photo albums) so if you have time I’d wait for a sale.
I’ve had photographers recommend artifact uprising albums too. I haven’t purchased one from them personally.
Neither should be running you anything near $400…

Always only purchase on Shutterfly when there is a sale. Only purchase photobooks when they have the unlimited free pages promotion.
We eloped but still had a full 3 hour photo session on the day of, and an engagement photo session the month before. I made a hardcover book on Shutterfly and designed all of my own pages with their special layouts/style themes, plus I added some pictures from our honeymoon.
It came out to around 90 pages and $36 per book after all of the coupons. I only used our best photos. We gave one each to our parents. If I didn’t wait for the unlimited pages promotion, I would have had to pay almost triple the price per book.
Shutterfly is a great option for beautiful inexpensive books for family… Just something to think about.
