Maybe you could say Mr. Merelymere was educated in Hometown, USA and is now employed as a wine buyer at ____ Company.

How about something like this (based on the New York Times submission template):

The groom, [age], works in [town] as a buyer for [company], a [wine retailer/restaurant/etc.] there. 

He is the son of Jane Doe of [town] and John Smith of [city].  The groom is also a stepson of Sally Smith.

I agree with Little River. No need to list that as no one will even miss it. My Mother-In-Law wrote one for us and all it stated was “bride is a nanny,” which makes me sound pretty lame considering all I have accomplished in life!! Write your own and forget the old school version.
