We are ordering our invitations today (and Future Mother-In-Law just requested TWENTY FIVE more for family and friends…errrrrgh.) But she also told Fiance to tell me to order fifty wedding announcements to send their customers (they own a business). I was always under the impression that you sent these out following the wedding? Can anyone explain this concept to me? And is it rude to send them out at the same time to we’re sending out invites? What do they typically say? This is one element that I have no clue about. Thank you!!!!

Announcements are meant to be sent the day of or sometime shortly after the wedding. They simply announce that “so and so were married on such and such a date.”
Definitely don’t send them now, because some people may get confused and think it’s an invitation. That would NOT be fun for you!
So aside from the 25 extra invitations, you’re off the hook for today 🙂
Hope that helps…

The only reason to order announcements now is if you get some kind of quantity/shipping discount for ordering them at the same time as your invitations. As tarlonda said, they do not go out until after the wedding.

Ok, wonderful! I’ve seen announcements that incorporate a picture of the couple on the wedding day & I really like that idea so I’m going to hold off for now, I guess! Thanks ladies!
