Good Afternoon Bees!
I am calling for some advice. I have been engaged since June 15, 2012. I have changed my color combinations TOO many times! I was recently filmed in Atlanta, GA for TLC’s Say Yes to The Dress. While filming, our consultant was VERY worried about my color choice of Aqua and Red. Has anyone seen or planned an Aqua and Red wedding? How was it? Is it difficult to match the “aqua, turquoise, robins egg, etc”. I noticed that even the bridesmaids dresses made by some of the larger designers doesnt even come in these colors! I am slightly worried of portraying a “Yankee Doodle, Fourth of July theme which is NOT wanted!! Anyone with any insight or just an opinion is urged to HELP ME OUT!!
One Mess of A Bride.

I don’t think it has to look like yankee doodle (love that you wrote that haha), as long as you keep the blue light, and maybe incorporate some other bright colors – yellow, orange, purple – but not white!

No. It will,be fine. Have one off the bees do an inspiration board for you.
The important thing is to do what YOU want to do.

Awesome! Thank you for reassuring me. Redheadem, what do you think of incorporating some Pinks?

I think it’s a cool color combo – very bold, bright, and cheerful. I think you should probably stick to just turquoise and red though (no pink – I would even say go easy on the teal, since a darker blue is what could take it into Yankee Doodle territory). If you Google “turquoise and red wedding” a ton of pics pop up.

My colors are turquoise and red. Have that consultant give me a call, I will give her a piece of my mind.
Yes, you can look a bit patriotic but I try to keep the turquoise bright and light and minimize the amount of white. I am tending to replace white accents with gold. Send me a PM and I can send you images of my invites, bout/bouquet/corsage flower and centerpiece mockups.

@MrsRoweFoSho: Im doing aqua and pink, I found this pic when I was looking for aqua photos and think the aqua and red look great together.
Edit: I have no idea what yankee doodle means in regards to colour, I know the nursery rhyme but thats it 🙂

It won’t be yankee doddle is you go with a candy apple bright red and an amost aquamarine neon aqua…that sounds way fun!

My colors are red and aqua! But my bridesmaids are wearing red dresses and aqua shoes. I guess I didn’t get too hung up on the shade of aqua…I did make a ribbon wall that I’m not sure I’ll use cause the ribbon is a bit dark and is kind of Dr Suess looking…haha!

@MrsRoweFoSho: I just had my aqua & red wedding this past Saturday and it turned out AMAZING. I think a lot of people are wary when they first hear it since it is unconventional but it turned out great and everyone loved it. It was definitely hard to find the right shade of aqua for bridesmaid dresses since a lot of them are more green or blue, but it all worked out; order swatches and you’ll be fine! Good luck, hope you can make it work!!

I am doing this color scheme also. I agree that the blue has to stay light, bright, far from navy.
I can’t find many examples of red dresses with aqua shoes, but that’s what I plan to do. The girls will have aqua accented jewelry and hydrangea bouquets that are spruced up with a little turquoise paint (still in trial stage). I saw pics of apple dresses with aqua shoes in David’s Bridal catelogue, but I can’t find it on the web.
Here’s some inspiration!

My aunt and uncle did this color scheme almost ten years ago – everyone thought it was crazy till they saw it in person and it was done so well that everyone loved it. I think its great and love to see when people don’t just ‘go with the flow’ and choose the same colors everyone else is using.
