my husband and I are supposed to do a renewal of vows next march but we recently moved and dont have much money right now for the wedsing so instead of pushing it back another year, I was thinking we can do the wedding at my mother in laws. she has a huge house but im still not sure how this would work out. has anyone else had their wedding at their house or someones else?and if so, how did it work out and how did you go about doing everything? did you still have a actual bartender and cateres?

We had our wedding/reception at a friends house in a small town (practiacally country). They have the house with a tiny attached garage and a big detached garage (like you could put two semi cabs in it). We got married out back in front of a huge tree and the reception in the detached garage (it was threatening rain). There was a lot of milling around in the house, outside, in the garge, etc.
It was awesome but we did have a small wedding. My friend and her husband procured the food and cooked/fixed it (and docked 1/3 of the cost for a wedding gift!). She and her daughter in law did decorations (that I picked out). We brought beer and a couple liquers but no one drank much, probably because it was an afternoon wedding. Darling Husband and I shared a beer before changing into our fancy clothes tho :). Most credit for it turning out awesome goes to my friend who helped during the whole process.
Other than that it was awesome because it was small and such a laid back intimate enviroment. Like a bunch of close friends having a mellow party with an awesome reason to. 🙂 Oh, and the marriage license was signed and witnessed at my friend’s kitchen table, while last minute prep for food was being done. Cool.
