Every day I go back and forth about which wedding band to choose, and it’s time for me to make a decision! I would love to hear your thoughts and if you can add any pros or cons to either of these options.
A simple ring that matches my fiance’s with milgrain on the outer edges. I’m not a flashy girl, and I like the practicality of it. I would feel comfortable traveling with it and I love the idea of simple matching bands.
I tried this Pavé Diamond ring on and my heart skipped a beat. I thought “this is it!” Then I started worrying about the practicality of it. Would I feel less comfortable walking outside at night with it? Would diamonds fall out often? That could be annoying. Since it has milgrain on the edges, it would still somewhat match my fiance’s ring.
The other day, I thought I had the perfect solution. Simple matching wedding bands and then the Pavé Diamond ring as an anniversary ring or something. My fiancé teased me a bit… “You really want to wait for an anniversary to get the ring you love so much? Think about it, choose the one you like the most for your wedding band and just get that one.”
Which is a good point, and I think he’s right, I just like them both the most, for different reasons. 🙂 Thoughts?
Here is my engagement ring, if that makes a difference.

I love the second one. I think it would go beautifuly with your e-ring and you could still wear it out at night. I think if that’s the one that made your heart “skip a beat” then that’s the one to go with.
You might wanna add a poll, you might get more results.

Pave band all the way. I love the look of a plain solitaire with a diamond band. I dont think a single thin pave band would be too flashy for most situations.

The Pave band is goregeous! I always tought I would get a plain band, but all these sparklier rings are definitely growing on me. I think it would look amazing with your Engagement Ring too!

You ladies are amazing. Thanks so much. With that many small diamonds, do you think they’ll occasionally fall out, or probably not often enough that I would need to worry?

Oh go with the pave!! It’s gorgeous and will be stunning with your e-ring! My engagement ring has pave diamonds on the band and so does my wedding band and they’re both really comfortable and you shouldn’t have a problem with the diamonds falling out. Just make sure to get the ring insured in case!

@margsie:I think the second band is gorgeous!

Honestly, it depends who makes it. Not all pave is done with the same level of craftsmanship. Also, make sure that they make the ring specifically for your ring size. Sizing a ring (more than 1 size) with lots of pave will effect the structural integrity of the ring.

Second one for sure! This is the one thing in life where I think practical is for the birds. You gotta wear this forever! And what if something happens and you can’t get the other one next year? You’ll spend all the time you should be spending admiring your new wedding band thinking about how long you have to wait to get the one you really want. Go for it!

At first I though the plain band as I’m going through a similar situation and thought a plain band would be ideal for travelling, however, if you love the pave and your Fiance knows you do and wants you to get it DO IT! why wait a until an anniversary when your worthy of it now! It is your wedding band and [probably the most sentimental and important piece of jewellery you will ever own. It may as well be your dream one.
Also as an anniversary gift if you still like it get the plain one for convenince when travelling or working. That can be your anniversary band and you could wear it as your wedding band when you feel it’s appropriate.
It’s also perfect that both bands match your Fiance. I’m so sad looks like I will have to have a fitted or curved band for my emerald cut so no matching for us! WAA!

I’m in the minority but I LOVE the first band!

I LOVE the pave band! Like pinkshoes, I also love the look of a plain solitare with a diamond band- so beautiful!

I love the first band too! The second one is gorgeous, but I think long term, the first one would be so low maintenance, yet gorgeous!

Thanks everyone! This is really helpful. And I’m relieved at least a few people liked the plain milgrain band. 🙂 It’s been a difficult decision, because I really love both, but I’ve decided to go with my heart and have the 3-sided pavé as my wedding band. If life leads me in a direction where I would prefer something simpler/ more practical, then I can get the milgrain for an everyday band and still have the pavé as something very special.
