Hello! I’m hoping some of you can help me out. My FI and I went to look at wedding bands. I want a plain gold band but because of the setting of my ring, I have two options.
My ring is thin at the back and gets thicker as it gets to the stone. (see pictures below). I don’t remember the exact numbers, but the difference in thickness is 1 mm. So it might be 1 mm at the bottom and 2 mm at the top.
So my options are the following:
Option 1: I can get a gold band that is tapered. So it would match the thickness of the engagement ring. She said that if I went this route, I should get them soldered together because if the band turns things will feel off.
Option 2: Get a band that is thick all around. So it won’t be as thin at the back but it will look nice at the front.
What would you ladies think would be best? I’m not crazy about the idea of getting it soldered together. I’d prefer the separate rings. But at the same time, I don’t know if it will feel weird having the wedding band thicker in the back. Maybe I wouldn’t notice though?
They’re going to call me tomorrow with estimates on what each option will cost. But I’d like some opinions on what the best option would be.
