I don’t see why it would be tacky. White gold is beautiful. I love it. It’s my favorite choice for a ring in fact 🙂

Honestly, just by looking, I can’t tell the difference between white gold and platinum. I’m assuming a trained jeweler or someone else who knows what differences to look for might be able to tell. But I am just a regular girl off the street, and I can’t tell the difference just by looking. I think they’re both beautiful, honestly. The only type of metal I can’t stand is yellow gold. I think it’s hideous.

I have a platinum ering (I wanted white gold but this style only came in platinum.) As we went to pick out the wedding band, I was looking for white gold again, but the saleslady at ShaneCo (non-commission) told me that if I planned on wearing the two together, that the metals don’t wear well next to each other and cause scratching. The other downside is that I want my rings soldered, but the white gold requires rhodium dipping every so often. I couldn’t get the dipping to keep it white if I soldered it to platinum, so it would get very yellow in time.

Just what I was told! I’m sure whatever you choose will be beautiful!
