My e-ring is a 4.75, but a jeweler just advised me to order my wedding band in a 1/4 size bigger. Is this a good idea?
My knuckles are a bit big, so getting the e-ring over my knuckle takes effort, but once it’s on it’s totally comfortable. I have a thin e-ring band (1mm) and my wedding ring band will be 2mm, so nothing too thick…I’m worried that sizing up may not let me ever wear my band by itself, but I’m also worried that getting a 4.75 ring will be too tight underneath my e-ring? Hmm…I don’t know which way to go.
Anyone have a e-ring and wedding band with different ring sizes? How is working for you?

I’m ordering my wedding ring 1/4 size bigger than my e-ring because it is full eternity, so it wont matter as much if it spins around. Plus, since it’s eternity, it can’t really be resized, so i’d prefer it to be a little bigger.
I’d think you’d still be able to wear it alone – 1/4 size isn’t such a big difference, so it shouldn’t be falling off you.

My wedding band a 1/4 bigger than my engagement ring. I actually like it that way because as a set, the seem to fit snugger. Even though my wedding band is 1/4 bigger, I can still wear it without it falling off. Plus, I don’t plan on wearing my wedding band by itself often.
I say, listen to your jewelers advice and get a 5- it really isn’t that much of a difference. If you don’t like it, you can always size down. I think it’s easier to size down than it is to size up! Just my 2 cents 🙂

Thanks for the input, ladies!I really appreciate it!
My ring is a low-set bezel so there will be a gap between the e-ring and the band…don’t know if that will make a difference. I am inclined now to go the 1/4 size up because of the ease of sizing down vs. sizing up. However, if I go with an eternity, I have to get it right the first time, maybe I’ll go with a 3/4 eternity for sizing purposes? Decisions, decisions!

The wedding band sits lower on your finger than the e-ring, which is usually the narrower part. I’d think a *smaller* size makes more sense for the wedding band! That said, mine are the same size, and they both fit snugly.
