@DayDay:  I agree, I would use paypal only. As to whether it’s spam, it’s hard to say. I wouldn’t be surprised if people who aren’t members want to buy your dress but it could be fake.

@DayDay:  im see this is 2 months old but im really hoping you didnt fall for it. IT IS A SCAM!!! i just went through all this. the guy said he would throw in extra money to consider it sold, would send someone to pick it up, and would send a check. i got the check and it was thousands over what the price was! they want you to deposit it then return the rest. however then they have access to your whole account and take everything you have somehow! i didnt deposit it and figured it out before hand. check out some of the other posts on here. im sure a lot of what im saying is sounds familiar.

Actually, how this works is NOT that they clear your bank account out or even that they learn the details of it. You will not lose “everything you have” but you will lose the value of the goods you are selling and the amount you have given them over and above the purchase price.

What happens is that their cheque will not be honoured but you will not discover this until too late. Here’s a couple of links that explain it. One is relevant to UK bees, the other US. But the practice is the same wherever you live:
